On topic, if you think forums that censor words are bad... I've seen more than a couple of forums that ban anyone who mentions a "competing" forum (like if someone would mention "MBN" on another LBA forum they would get banned from that forum).

This whole discussion makes me tempted to invent some swear words, log on to some prude forum about Jesus Christ or Tabaluga or whatever's the most childish fable these days and swear all I want. I wonder how would the mods there react to someone swearing his ass off with his own invented swear words.

I think that would most likely get me banned in there. Which would mean they're not about the words themselves, but banning emotions as Anakkin said. Or most likely about propagating self delusion, and covering the reality we live in with a pink frosting... poor fuckers.

Well your previous post made me do some research and I found about the Sea Shepherd ship and while watching their videos all I could think of was "finally someone's ramming and sinking those motherfuckers".

Then found about Whale Wars and I'm definitely going to check it out. I've been saying it for years someone has to go there and sink those whalers... and never knew someone's actually trying to do just that...

It might be just some naive tree huggery, but if they disturb the whalers to the point that whaling becomes not economically viable, I'd say they're doing a good job. And apparently the Japanese whaling fleet is in debt with the Japanese government because of their actions...

I don't have a problem with the concept of anti-whaling, but actually watching Whale Wars is pretty sad. Not only are they ridiculously unsafe and lack any training or discipline, they're activists have an almost fanatical stance towards whales and anyone who questions their practices/motives/etc.

The best place to see this is on the Sea Shepherd forums - they actually do IP checks to see if you're registered on a "blacklist" of forums that either make fun of, denigrate, or insult their cause.

I frequent (though I am not a member) of Discovery Channel's "Whale Wars" forums (separate entity from Sea Shepherd's official forums) and it is almost comical how people defend the decisions of Sea Shepherd even though they are oftentimes ridiculously unsafe.

It certainly makes for entertaining television, and I support their cause, but their approach is downright loony.

If you actually read what I wrote, my error wasn't in they're, it was forgetting to add "who" after it.
