Have you ever looked at FunFrock and thought wow he looks deformed or ugly compared to other quetches. I mean some misinformed people even thought he was a fat sup!

Point is to discuss over whether funfrocks appearance is due to him being deformed, fat or even both and funfrock discussion in general

here was ee the mull motion shot of funFrock where his giant chin seems to be a large folds of fat rathers than a deformed chin aqnd the same shot bellow indicates he has a large jaw


In full glory, massive jawed lba2 funfrock even has his lower lip teeth sticking out for that evil villain look and something similiar we see in lba1

maybe so but thats more a stereotype, FunFrock is just fat and tall with a massive mug like no other quetch giving his head a sup like appearance. for reference normal quetch.

it's funny how these powerful evil rulers of men convienced people to give them power in the first place, despite the fact they look so pathetic, I mean it's hard to take someone who look like them seriously.

Quite a lot of leaders aren't particularly easy on the eye, dictators or not (Have you seen Gordon Brown? Ariel Sharon (Even though he was a dictator concerning the Palestinians)?)





Funfrock always struck me as having a disturbingly similar appearance to the former Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak.



Also, Ahmedinijad isn't a dictator fool, Ayotallah Khomeni is. He's on his second and last term as president, and doesn't even have the power to fire members of his own cabinet without being overruled by the Ayotallah if it doesn't suit him

Its a really sad sterotype - I blame Disney mostly these days, but its obviously a lot older.
Look at all the Bond villians too - all disfigured.

It seems we find it hard to avoid associating an ugly face with an ugly personality.
Id like to think we just start thinking these people are ugly after what we know about them - but thats not true really.

On the one hand, ugly by itself shouldn't be an insult - our physical appearance isnt our fault and doesnt really effect anything or matter. But then, if we have these built in associations between uglyness and negative personality traits, is it any wonder people go out of their way to try not to look ugly?

it's not always like that. Take Mussolini for exemple, he took the power by conquering rome, unlike Hitler, who was actually elected. What is true is that in most cases these dictators after a few years of ruling are seen positively by the people

Often dictators replace a more unstable system before them, and so are seen as good because the alternative is worse. That doesn't really mean they are seen positively in a absolute sense, especially when people cant voice their real views too loudly anyway.

Incidentally, I wonder if anyone has gathered statistics looking at the rise of dictators in places via democratic means (that is, elected first, then once in they try/succeed in staying perminately). It would be interesting too see if some rules (term limits etc) are more successfull at stopping too much power going into one persons hand, compared too other rules.

That works for motivation, but not really why everyone else supports them - at least in western politics its been shown that charisma plays a large part of who we trust/vote for. (ok, not quite the same thing as prettyness, but certainly we are a lot more shallow then we like to think on some important things)

I think the character design for funfrock really has worked out great.
You can't make any mistake he IS the badguy. That awefull jaw and the way it moves when he is laughing.

He looks hidious and that is what makes him work so well. He looks so different from other characters in the game that you can identify him just by only looking at his silhouette. (I can't help it but the boogeyman from the nightmare before cristmas always makes me think of him and vice versa).

I also love the esmers specially the scene in LBA2 where they are coming out of the shuttle and the only thing you can see IS the silhouette and the red eyes lighting up until they are completly out of the shuttle. When i was young i always found it a bit scary... They just look so evil from the first second you see them. You just KNOW that they are evil from the beginning even trough they try to convince you that they are coming in peace.

Wow, this made me laugh. It HAS to be quoted! Maybe he had too much fun with his mutation statistics and experiments. Seeing Funfrock though for the first time in LBA 2 made me think of a crazy Japanese or Chinese Samurai. Maybe most Quetches are those races? (Chinese, Japanese, Korean)? Not that they are, just saying.

Ugliness and evilness was also a steorotype in westerns between cowboys and outlaws, until Sergio Leone innovated by painting everybody ugly, which is in part what gave him success. I'd say it's simply closer to our reality !

The question I would like answered is why FunFrock was designed to be so unqutech like, is there some sort of reason the threat to Twinsen is big fat ugly and deformed.
