Question LBA3 multi-character

I read somewhere that you would be able to choose your character in LBA3: Twinsen, Zoë or Twinsen's son (Arthur?).

How would it be?

Could you just choose your character at the beginning of the game only?

Could you switch characters during the game, if so...
- should you switch to finish the game?
- can you switch at any time, or at some points only (e.g. when you meet the character you want to switch to)?

Would the game make you switch automaticly (i.e. first a part in which you are Twinsen, then automaticly a part in which you are Zoe, ...) - I don't think so, actually

Does the character you were before you switched stay at his place, does he disappear (i.e. the new character comes in his place), or return at another place (e.g. Twinsen's house)?

Would every character have own advantages/disadvantages? (I think he/she would)

And, would there be any multiplayer functions in the game?

And finaly, did mr Frederick tell about the multi character funtion, or is is it all just a lie?

Yeah... I have heard about this a long time ago (a short time after coming here), even before the plans for LBA 3 were completely cancelled...
Anyway...

I'm not really sure how it's gonna be like. When I first heard of it, I thought that at different points of the game you'll be able to control different characters. Sounds pretty logic IMHO, rather than playing with Arthur throughout the whole game, sending him to save the world .

I think it's also pretty logic that every character has its own advantages/disadvantages. I mean, Zoé wouldn't be able to throw the magic ball as hard as Twinsen, I guess...
(/me imagines Zoé using the sword )

What exactly do you mean by multiplayer functions? Like... I don't know...
Well, I am a really light gamer, so I don't really know what you mean...

I believe it was Fred who told them about this...

Multiplayer:

Gaming with more than one players, in the same game, mostly at the same time. This can be against, or with each other.

It's for example, playing a football game with your friends, where you are on the same team or in opposite teams. It can be really cool.

You could call me a 'light gamer' as well...

I meant like playing together with someone else, i.e. you play Twinsen, your friend plays Zoë.

Though if the game were on PC, I wouldn't know how - someone else would have more difficult controls in that case (like using letters instead of the arrow keys). But I cannot really tell anything about this as I do not have modern PC games (not a good 3d card).

I think the most logical result would be using certain characters for certain parts of the game. They would have specific tasks you would need to complete as each character.

I agree.

I think it should have a plot-explanation too.

Purhapes Twinsen gets a Possession spell, where he gets to take over other peoples minds.
(like that Controll spell in The Wind Waker)

Or maybe Buldino invents a mind-swap gadget

Probably the game decides when you switch, and you need to switch characters like in The Lost Vikings, because each character has its own skill, that the others can immitate.

If you could switch when you want to yourself it could be an addition to the status screen (when you press ctrl), like use the left and right arrow keys for the mode (sporty, agressive, ...) and the up and down keys to switch the character.

It would look a bit strange if suddenly another character appears out of nowhere...

Besides, I think the experience of connecting to the hero is fun, but if the hero is 3 people in 1, it's messed up.

exactly, which is why it needs a to fit into the plot.

In final fantasy VII, when a character joins your party, he/she walks right inside you.

Well, it's different in a RPG battle...

Multi-character-ness is not something I would like to see in an LBA adventure game. In adventure games, I feel that single controllable characters allow you to develop more of a liking and bond with the character, although in RPGs, the more the merrier (especially with BG2 SOA, more thief NPCs please!)

Multi-Character is a way to improve the game, but multi-character like the Sanitarium game.

I think that you can choose your character at the beginning. That way you can in fact play 4 different games. Wouldn't mess up the storyline.

That is true morshem, not very LBA like, Maniac Mansion had a similar system, and while it was a good game, the picking your own characters system is one I did not much like.
LBA = Twinsen!! There is no other way to do it!

I agree, it was random and luck based if those that you chose let you complete the game.

However, the sequel, Day of the Tentical, IMO, demostrated how mutiple charecters could be used to great effect in a game
