That is a photo of LBA1 running on an iPad. The port is currently still under development for both iOS and Android.

Additionally, DotEMU is also selling LBA1 and LBA2, you can get the LBA1 + LBA2 bundle for only 7,99 euro. The games cost 4,99 euro separately.

Just like GOG.com, DotEMU is an digital distributor that sells classic games (DRM free) which have been fixed to run on modern PCs.

I wonder how on Earth you would play the game using just a touchscreen as controls. Imagine playing LBA 1 with running into walls hurting you, when you only have your fingers on a screen to direct Twinsen.

Now about that DotEmu site, I noticed that they have quite the catalogue of Sega Mega Drive games. Does anybody happen to know whether the games sold on the site are 50Hz or 60Hz?

I wonder the exact same thing.

Will prolly work the same way GTAIII does for Touch devices.

Not saying its wasy to play like this but its normally how they adapt the controls. :)

Wonderful! I have be wishing for an update regarding this ever since I tried to run LBA in dosbox on my Android, without all too much success; it was quite slow, despite my phone being quite fast.

Will definitely spend money on this as soon as it comes out. LBA portably, even natively at that, is a childhood dream come through! :D

I have no idea how i will play this on my small but powerful iphone......

K. A. T. 2012-11-02 08:14

What about android version?:)

xesf 2012-11-02 16:33

Finally some words of this version.

A nice feature to add would be make Twinsen walk to a Touch Position. We touch a point in the scene and he walks till there.
Also make possible to have Actions according with touch.

Darkflame 2012-11-02 19:51

Touch to move, distance away determines speed (like the DS Zeldas, worked well)
This would also let you ditch the modes....walking very slow is automaticly stealth, walking fast is running. You auto switch modes on speed basically.

Fighting and magic ball is harder really.

You know that was very unpopular in the ds Zelda's and my personal reason for giving spirit tracks away.

Darkflame 2012-11-02 23:53

Spirit tracks was rubbish for all sorts of reasons :P, but I thought the controls were smooth/quick/easy. Cant see a better way to do it.

use the ds like any other console and use a game pad? They never even game the choice to use the arrow keys to move link.

Darkflame 2012-11-03 01:02

No clue whatsoever why they didnt give a choice, but DPad didnt give you speed control and you only get 8 directions.

Its academic anyway, tablets dont have dpads, only shitty (imho) onscreen emulations of them.

Mazaka151 2012-11-03 12:10

Wow, what a timing, I just ordered the 4th Gen. iPad, I'll post a video or something when this is available

xesf 2012-11-03 13:35

Does anyone knows the content of the DotEMU bundle?! It uses DosBox like the GOG version of its different?!

Archas 2012-11-08 20:05

Graphics is the same .

And i fear for the gameplay :'(

Trolle 2012-11-08 22:03

Wow, great news! I wonder if they will redesign anything. Ex. it would be cool to see a upgraded 3d engine in LBA2 (the 256 colors, software rendering and low resolutions looks sooo bad by todays standarts). And if they do I wonder if they would release it on pc.

K. A. T. 2012-11-13 08:21

@Trolle for android, iOS LBA will be the same. Mr. Frederic is making remake of LBA for PC:)

Polaris 2012-11-15 17:36

I hope the 3DS will be hacked soon and there will be an adroid emulator :D

There are other ways to control direction on an iOS device other than touch...

bendac 2012-11-18 19:00

Will it be an official release? If no I prefer to wait the one from the developer to support him even if I need to pay.

It seems that its still in its beta stage and still unavailable. But when they release it you will probably have to pay for it.

xesf 2012-12-24 20:22

Game pack on DotEmu is only 4€. Get it until 4th January.

Rex_Hollywood 2012-12-25 00:52

Wow, is it actually happening?
What's your source? I don't see anything on the website.

xesf 2012-12-28 00:02

I'm really interesting to know if they will also use our open source engines TwinEngine and Prequengine to make this iOS port.
