I just noticed A Boy and his Blob got a sequel for Wii.

I don't like it, judging from the images. I hate the fact they turned a perfectly normal boy into a fucking anime character

Anime character! Yays!

Now seriously: WTF?? Are you kidding me? Are they really doing a sequel of that game?

SebZ 2009-04-20 07:49

I'm getting excited for the next CoD game, Modern Warfare 2.
From what I've read, it's going to be amazing.

Darkflame 2009-04-20 07:53

Personaly, I'm more disapointed they didnt take the advantage of the wii to make a more dynamic blob.
I mean, let you reshape it youself. Use the point to pull and stretch it, then press a button to freeze that shape.

So, rather then preset forms, you manipulate it yourself to form solutions to puzzle-platforming-problems.

ChaosFish 2009-04-20 11:11

In the original A Boy and his Blob my favorite thing was that the blob could turn into a hole :p I mean, how does it work exactly? Darkflame maybe you have some scientific explanation?

I guess it could be something like in that episode of Fringe.

Darkflame 2009-04-20 11:39

umm..well, in fringe they had the projection thing that dephased the surface. Essentialy turning a solid surface into a ghost. Completely sci-fi, but physicaly possible in so far as it dosnt break the basic laws of physics. (99.999% of everything is nothing, after all....when we touch something, its because the fields are hitting eachother). If its possible to get fields to pass though eachother without interferance (like "standing waves" can), then passing though objects could be possible.

How a blob could do this I have no idea though :P

StarCraft II map creator shown in action:

Just watch. You can't describe how awesome it is. Probably insanely complex though.

ChaosFish 2009-08-24 01:33

Wait a sec, is StarCraft 2 not out yet? How long has it been in development? I remember playing StarCraft 1 when I was like 8 or something.

Kobold 2009-08-25 16:25

StarCraft II has had endless delays because Blizzard has been working on World of WarCraft for way too much. The game was supposed to be released this year, but now it's pushed back even further.

Double-J 2009-08-25 21:30

Holy fuck, Batman: Arkham Asylum is a fangasm of epic proportions. It's drawing from the comic book and the 90's TV show, not the Nolan reboot movies, and it is seriously awesome.

I'll review on my blog when I get further in.

GoofyLife 2009-08-30 14:09

IL2 Sturmovik: Birds Of Prey =)

So far every combat flight sim to the console has been rubbish, arcade-style crap with no love for the flightsim genre, but this one is looking nice and smooth and finally some good controls =) Getting the PS3 version

Scribblenauts has been delayed by two weeks. It now releases October 9th on the same day as Mario & Luigi 3 & the new Kingdom Hearts DS game.

I can't say that's good news. :-/

Darkflame 2009-09-01 15:18

National bankruptcy day it is then.

In other news; Okami is coming to the DS O_o

Waa? Postlinkplz.

Is all this just because 9/9/9 is a pretty date?
New games only get released on Fridays in Europe.

Darkflame 2009-09-01 18:58

Better yes, its a whole new game;

Kobold 2009-09-01 19:24

Strange, but definitely something to look out for. :)

Darkflame 2009-09-03 10:26

First video here;
Very short, but seems to confirm the game play will be very similar indeed.

Jasiek 2009-09-06 23:06

I like. Looks Falloutish.

Lightwing 2009-09-06 23:39

Woah. Shit.

You don't say. Everybody loves post-apocolyptic mumbo jumbo I guess.

Darkflame 2009-09-07 00:36

I want more Post-Post Apocalyptic games.

ChaosFish 2009-09-07 03:12

Yep, Post Apocalyptus is teh shit nowadays. There's even a post apocalyptic reality show now.

The game looks too Falloutish if you ask me. It's generally a bad sign when a thing looks too much like another thing. How about something new?

Jasiek 2009-09-07 07:06

Lightwing, actually, I hate catastrophic movies. But I think there's two types of "post-apocalyptia". There's the sudo-moralist "you damn dirty apes" Planet of the Apes type. And there's the "ooh look it's a dune buggy in a cow pattern with midgets in it" Mad Max type.

In the first type the humans are by nature fucked up, and are destined to get fucked over. And in the second type, it is the human ingenuity that saves us even in the direst of circumstances. The first one falsely condemns us, and the other one tries to show situations in which the human spirit (so to speak) endures it all and prevails in the end.

I like the second type, I hate the first one. Games like the Fallout series, and (most likely) like Rage, and movies like Mad Max, (or even the waterworld), although being based on a bullshit premise, are stories of hope and of the enduring human spirit.

I think that division has to be made clear. That there are these damned moralist/tree hugger catastrophic stories, and there are these that try to make a case for the human condition.

^6 in the morning/cannot sleep post.

Rex_Hollywood 2009-09-07 10:32

I see a FPS with more focus on driving than usual.
Looks alright I guess, I won't dislike a game because it appears there's more like it before I play it (at least when it copies something I quite like).

Darkflame 2009-09-07 13:20

Best post-apocalyptic thing I saw recently was the film City of Ember.

As for post-post-apocalyptic, that would be few Ghibli films. (Nausicaa, for example, is post-post apocalyptic)

Some reason theres less games that examine the society's that could be rebuilt after a big disaster.
