It's not like they're starting a "small big bang" just to see what it was like, only smashing matter to bits to free the stuff that was free at the beginning.
|
Well, it isnt really recreateing conditions.
Thats just hyperbole. (and not least because we dont know what those conditions actualy were :p) Its is though recreating conditions that wouldnt accore naturely these days. Well, too our knowledge. So you still could, thoerticaly, get some bezire unexpected thing. But it wouldnt be a black hole, or a big bang. Quote:

Ah, so there is a tiny chance this will bring the end of the world. Wonderful.
|
Is there a way to stop them?
|
Fortunately not.
No Fishos, there isn't. They say that the "probability is extremely small" which in a physicists language means it is as possible as you fazing into a different dimension or a new big bang starting under your table. |
Isn't the entire experiment done because they don't have a clue about it? How can they state something like that then?
|
Have a read then:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safety_...adron_Collider The report regarding the safety of the LHC even hold up in court. |
I wasn't being serious, no need to get defensive.
Although... something tells me the chances of a black hole starting in a condition that never happened in recorded history since the big bang are just a little bit higher than the chances of a black hole randomly forming under my table. On a side note JASIEK YOU SHOULD LIGHTEN UP |

Do you have a clue what happens if you do? How can you state for sure then, that it wont create a rip in the fabric of spacetime leading to an evil universe! :p |
DF - That's not the same and you know it!

Be too young to work :p
Well, there would probably also be a few percent that wont want to do anything usefull/absolutely nothing fits their interests. |
Ok, this is awesome.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlpyGhABXRA Posting it here becouse of Sagan, but it's really, REALLY funny ^^. |

Apparently it's not beta anymore. What pissess me though that it was first presented as something to view the web, and it was supposed to search the web for it's photos, and not collections made solely by the users... |
Wow, is this what I think it is? This is amazing.
|
Well it was amazing and developed for Linux. Then microsoft bought it out, removed the linux compatibility and slapped on a notice reading "We're sorry but your platform is not yet supported" and then removed all the cool stuff it was supposed to have, and changed it to a photo album....
And it was going to be a search engine, the whole world available in the internet via pictures... |
That's horrible. Damn that evil Microsoft. Blast them. They will pay for their evil deeds.
|
Speaking of Evil...
I JUST SCORED A 666 POSTCOUNT IN THIS THREAD! |

3D Mapping an area from uncalibrated photos is hugely impressive. Of course, it will be much better if they can take photos off websites. But it was never going to be a photo search engine with a fancy transition effect. That said, the support sucks. (no Opera,Saffire). Microsoft limited (as you said, no Linux). Heck, it dosnt even support Windows2000! Yet it worked fine online?! And worse, their severs are always busy. Microsoft: The worst of bothworlds. They take a online app offline, and yet it still has sever problems >_< Still, this is too good to be free for long. I see pro versions with "Export to DXF" options to get the point data to Max/Maya etc. Later on, streaming 3d Data to Microsofts 3d earth thingy. |
When you think about it, Microsoft's long term plan actually is to take over the world. Maybe it's time to stop saying that as if it's funny.
|
"and when we'll all be slaving in Microsofts offworld mines I want you to know I fucking called it!"
Darkflame, of course it wasn't going to be "just" a search engine, but when I first saw it on TED it was pretty much obvious the goal was to have it intertwined with the web, to make a 3D map of the world using online photos. |

Well maybe not really "plan", but more of a goal. World domination IS their primary goal. Just try to contradict me.
|
Ok, they have no army, so they can't force actions upon people, which is required if they want world domination.
|
And do you think they wouldn't rise an army, given they had the money, would be able to get away with it, and will gain profit from it? I actually think they will. Probably wouldn't call it "an army" though.
