Apparently it's not beta anymore. What pissess me though that it was first presented as something to view the web, and it was supposed to search the web for it's photos, and not collections made solely by the users...

Well it was amazing and developed for Linux. Then microsoft bought it out, removed the linux compatibility and slapped on a notice reading "We're sorry but your platform is not yet supported" and then removed all the cool stuff it was supposed to have, and changed it to a photo album....

And it was going to be a search engine, the whole world available in the internet via pictures...

That's horrible. Damn that evil Microsoft. Blast them. They will pay for their evil deeds.

It was always much more then that!
3D Mapping an area from uncalibrated photos is hugely impressive.

Of course, it will be much better if they can take photos off websites. But it was never going to be a photo search engine with a fancy transition effect.

That said, the support sucks. (no Opera,Saffire). Microsoft limited (as you said, no Linux).
Heck, it dosnt even support Windows2000! Yet it worked fine online?!

And worse, their severs are always busy.
Microsoft: The worst of bothworlds.
They take a online app offline, and yet it still has sever problems >_<


Still, this is too good to be free for long. I see pro versions with "Export to DXF" options to get the point data to Max/Maya etc.

Darkflame, of course it wasn't going to be "just" a search engine, but when I first saw it on TED it was pretty much obvious the goal was to have it intertwined with the web, to make a 3D map of the world using online photos.

Ok, they have no army, so they can't force actions upon people, which is required if they want world domination.

And do you think they wouldn't rise an army, given they had the money, would be able to get away with it, and will gain profit from it? I actually think they will. Probably wouldn't call it "an army" though.
