Dynamic camera in LBA2!
Hi, with all this fantastic work on reverse engineering LBA1 and 2 I wonder if it's possible to implement a camera in LBA 2 which automatically redraws the scene (imagine pressing 'return' 30+ times per second!). Lba 2 implemented a static background for obvious speed issues, but nowadays most computers can run LBA2 10X over!!! Perhaps the camera could be limited to looking behind and above Twinsens head. Anyway, nice to visit the forum again and find it's still really busy (busier than ever). :holomap:

On-topic: I'm pretty sure its not that impossible. You still remember scripting?

Double-J 2003-06-14 02:38

Webseed=true old school. MBN forum legend, I've never met you. I am the Godfather. ;) :D

Problem is that the game also pauses a fraction of a second after pressing enter... But yeah, I've always liked the idea, sometimes I ran around pressing enter as much as possible.

Welcome back ^_^

If you will look in LBA2 Options menu, you'll see "Movie Camera ON/OFF".

That was supposed to be the dynamic camera, but they didn't implemented it.

Welcome back, WebSeed. We want your LBA-DM work, please!

Not really; with the movie camera on you see Twinsen from non-standard angles in certain situations like jumping over the lava streams at the Island of the Celebration in platform style, and the top-down view when you walk into the secret cemetary entrance to the school of magic. If you turn the movie camera off you won't see this.

Boohooo, I'm so embarrassed... I keep making mistakes... :o

I don't like the movie camera that much, some of the angles it puts you in can make it hard to manuver accurately.

Sniper Master 2006-06-16 12:53

I never realised that option was there, but I like it like that.

Purple Sheep 2006-06-16 17:53

So you mean you can override the set camera angles at the School of Magic etc.? Those are really annoying sometimes.

elmuerte 2006-06-16 19:44

I thought they were always very useful

Purple Sheep 2006-06-16 20:06

They can be, but I hate losing the freedom of setting my own angle.

I know it's possible to do a script that presses return all the time.
So would it be possible that this script knows if you are playing or if you are in a menu?

Sniper Master 2006-06-17 16:11

That would be easy to fix - press "P" or something to turn it off.

Necdilzor 2006-06-18 17:42

does it realy work?

Neko 2006-06-18 23:10

in what program language were the games made anyway?

Purple Sheep 2006-06-18 23:12

C++ I believe. But we don't have the source code for LBA2, so modding the actual program wouldn't be possible.

elmuerte 2006-06-18 23:15

iirc both were written in C++

Streg 2006-06-18 23:24

It was made in java indeed
^_^ :p :D
