Do you think in LBA there is this kind of interaction with platforms ? Can't remember.

leoboe 2009-07-17 20:14

Iirc there really is.
just Remember the plassform in the cave with the shield-spell.
When you put the box on the platform and hit the button with your ball, the ball will jump on the moving box.

Jasiek 2009-07-18 00:21

There's no shield spell in LBA1.

LBA1 had moving platforms in the prison and in The Tempe of Bu and some other locations. Both Twinsen and NPC's could ride them (there's a nurse dude in the Citadel riding one).

hey !
Looks like we're all busy or in holidays !
I'm currently making a web page with all the LSA project and its tools, with comments and pictures, adding of course members creations.
Because I pay for a website I don't use anymore, I decided to use it for that project.
Web site will be here :
www.davidglass.fr/lsa
Well, you can even open it right now I made a test page, just to prove it exists ;)
I think before making more stuff it's vital to document already made things. That's the aim of this website.
Hope you enjoy the idea !

Darkflame 2009-07-24 19:38

Good idea :)
I think for now its best to keep the site simple.
Perhaps some sort of wiki-template could be used? So you dont have to manually code all the content-submission stuff.

David 2009-07-24 19:47

I'm using a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor called Nvu, because it's free, simple, and allows me to modify very quickly content.
Website will be with two columns, like emeral moon base http://moonbase.kazekr.net.
I think it's enough for what I want to do
The idea is to allow anybody (fan, coder or modelers) to download or participate in the project in few clicks, and also to keep track and quick access to what I did before.
When I think twice, this project and all its tools took me years to create. It's time to organize all those stuff in a nice way.

Darkflame 2009-07-24 21:04

Ah, that seems perfect :)

Getting there!

David 2009-07-28 16:24

great !
Looks like we'll soon have a nice map to work on !

Jasiek 2009-07-28 20:24

Yeah, done for today. Will add props and shore tomorrow.

Darkflame 2009-07-28 21:16

looking goooooddd

Kobold 2009-07-28 21:37

Awesome :D

David 2009-07-29 09:59

what are "props" ?

Jasiek 2009-07-29 13:45

Other stuff, objects: lamps, bins, benches, sandbags, barbed wire, telepod, tree's etc.

David 2009-07-29 19:29

Ah ok !
It would be amazing if you put names to all your objects. That could be useful to create other map easily
Also, If you look at the blender file of the map I use in LSA V2, you'll see that I renamed objects of the map so that they start with map_..... This allow to python script to know which object has to be exported.

David 2009-08-11 13:06

Hello evb
I'm giving some news :
- I'm about to upload the LSA web site. All 3D content will be downloadable. Jasiek, Horadrim, it's time to say if there is a problem with that !
- My plans : As I'm too much newbee in Lua scripting/ C-Lua implementing, I'll start making another kind of game. Instead of making a LBA like game I'll make a (not so) different game instead, using same LBA graphics. I'll make a bot arena like game.
have a look here http://infon.dividuum.de/ or here http://www.flasharcade.com/action-ga...rena-game.html . The idea is to make some bots fight in a arena, each bot is ruled by a lua script. If I'm able to make that first, I'll get ideas clearer for further LSA developping ...

Darkflame 2009-08-11 13:49

Sure, start simple, and develop/refine the engine based on that.

David 2009-08-11 17:31

I uploaded project site, you can see it by clicking on my signature

Darkflame 2009-08-11 18:28

looks good enough :)

As for making bot-scripts as a test/way to learn Lua, that sounds great.
It has knock-on effect too....as the scripts you make for the bots could be adapted for actual lba enemy AI later :)

David 2009-08-12 13:35

I don't know if I can reuse script later, because LSA AI is supposed to handle 3 dimensions.

David 2009-08-12 13:43

If some people want to get involve in those project, I still need animations for the models you can find on my web site. Twinsen already has some animation but a lot are missing. Like magic ball throwing and close fighting (I need them in priority)
Also ... I need a cool arena (LBA style), an ambiant music, some sounds effects ...
If you know about LUA scripting or anything related to bots AI, you are more than welcome

Jasiek 2009-08-15 21:02

Um, I'd like for a read-only license.txt file to be attached to everything I made...
As trustworthy as I am, I don't want to be finding my stuff all over the place, with someone else taking the credit for it.

Almost done with the map, didn't have time to finish the shore line lately...

Darkflame 2009-08-16 14:04

I really dont have time to work on animations....I'm so busy with other projects :(
I could look into scripting at some point though.
I know so many languages anyway, I'll probably pick it up pretty quick.

GoofyLife 2009-08-21 00:12

Tried out some of the models in Unity, worked out fine =)

Jasiek 2009-08-28 01:59

Here's the scene. I still haven't added the objects, but at least you'll have this.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/x37fwu

looks like this:
http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/4...nobeznazwy.png

I had to make the rocks like they are, if I were to follow the original ones it would look really awkward. The water edge is a slope. I know that stuff might be troublesome, but I'm sure you'll figure it out ;).

Sorry for the mouse cursor...
