Actually I don't mean just orbital weapon platforms. I mean all firearms and "tools designed to harm or kill".

Well, it won't affect us guys so much.

Personaly I plan on living for the next decade, dunno about you :P
Or did you mean the oil? That too could be well within our lifetime. |
|
Yeah, that, Darkflame meant that it would probably happen in the next decade.
|
Yea and I meant it won't happen to us :p
|
because women aren't for tecnology? :P
|
Nah, cause we/I'll never talk to women, duh!
whoups, I mean it's because we'll all get five stars! :D Or actually to be honest we'll just get 0.5 stars :( But that's just because the software can't display 5.5 stars properly! Ok I just can't go on killing more innocent brain cells from you and me :p |
Oh, I see, your point was not time based, but rather we are all awsume.
I can buy that :D |
Cool short film;
http://vimeo.com/3365942?pg=embed&sec= I can see the future of 3D modeling being exactly like that. |

Yeah, saw that, it's cool, really touching in fact. But imho it's the dream of the lazy modeler texture-wise. People just model stuff then search for texture's someone else made instead of painting their own, of course sometimes that's perfectly ok, but I'm talking about people who only model, and can't paint textures.
|
Kinda.
Most textures are just photos made seamless mind you. Its a bit silly to make a generic brick wall texture from scratch. Also most 3d modeling packages come with a vaste range of textures, and theres shitloads of freeware textures on the net. Thats assumeing, of course, that by the time we have full AR modeling systems we arnt using mostly procedral textures anyway. I notice you never saw him UV-mapping anything :P |

Think it's the Eros/Cupid and Psyche theme. Well the start of the story anyway. :) |

But it is nesscerly even with stuff like rage. For the moment anyway. As long as 3D Models require the conversion of a irregular skin of a surface to a 2D plan, some form of co-ordinate mapping is needed. Laying stamps isnt much good for charecter or creature work, and nor is it good for doing, say, a brickwall.(get tedious pretty darn quick). Aside from that, I think Rage, much like DeepPaint3D, still needs a UVmap, it just means you can paint in-context so it dosnt need to be as good. (that is, when painting between seams it automaticaly will wrap around for you, and all distortions are compansated for). Still, I'm pretty sure bad UVs will be visible in a Rage game because youd see texture-resolution change irregularly. Personaly, I like the idea of procedral 3d textures. Youd still want to use stamps and painting for details, but these could act as "bucket fills" in 3d space, which you can adjust and blend. Infinite detail, and always perfect for the geometry. Its amazing really how much you can do just by blending noise textures on different scales and itterations. |
