The Paypal screen told me I currently can't use Paypal as a method of paying. Strange. :-/
Actually it IS in the code. Don't look at head, but at h2 span. |

EDIT: It looks like CF already posted one! |
I just paid $6 for the GOG re-release of LBA 1, and turns out it's the EXACT SAME as the normal CD version. The RELENT.EXE file is exactly 258513 bytes, same file size as of the normal version. So what exactly is changed? Nothing I'd say.
But ah well, looking on the posivite side, I just have to change the .EXE file with the Japanese one, as well as TEXT.HQR etc., and I can play the Japanese edition. :p |

Anyway, what is up with your obsession of japanese lba? |

Ah ok you said it was beyond you that no one cared, but nt a lot of japanese people here I think :)

Downloading in progress !
I would be more enthousiasted in LBA2, I have only a copy of it. It's cool to have a numeric version though, I won't have to be afraid to scratch my CD that much now :D |
Well LBA2 is coming :)
|
Damnit, was sure I responded on MBN yesterday, ah well, to repeat myself (as far as I'm concerned that is)...
Excellent work Didier, Fred and the remaining LBA team who made this possible! This is excellent news. As far as promoting it goes, thanks to LBA campaign way back in 06, I did make a fair few interweb aquaintances from the various adventure/action journalists. Anyway, remembered this contact from gog, dated from june 2009. Hi Magicball.net team, My name is Oleg ******** and I represent GOG.com team. Recently we`re putting lots of efforts to reach Fredrick Raynal to talk about LBA rights and possibility of them appearing on GOG. Probably you know Fred directly and can introduce me to him or you can just talk to him about this opportunity will be really great. Thanks in advance and look forward to getting some news from you. Oleg Kindest regards, Oleg ********* GOG.com Team text http://www.gog.com/ |

If Japanese is a language that the game was officially released in, I see the point why OBrasilo wants it included - regardless of how crazy he might be for the Japanese, I can confirm that they do actually exist and also speak a language. :p
But who knows, it looks like the Japanese translation was made by somebody associated with the publisher, not the team itself maybe? |
- Kobold: The Japanese translation had to be helped by Adeline, given how it required modifications of the source code to accomodate the Japanese writing system with 2000+ characters. :p
|
It's a shame they didn't incorporate the fan-made (text) translations too.

And he would need permission.
|
And they'd have to have permission, yes. :p
|
We could easily grant permission I think. Just some statement on their forum from the creator.
"I/We hearby grant unrestricted, free, rights to use these translations for the GoG release of LBA" Or something. -- Axx- Indeed. From the interview it says Gog was nagging them, so I think thats because of us. We got LBA quite high up their wanted list too. |
Yes it would be easy, but they just needed to ask all the original creators of the fan translations. How many of them are still around anyway?
|
As someone who spent a lot of his free time working on translations for the games, I really wouldn't mind them included in an official release.
|
I'll only agree to this if they provided it for FREE or if we (translators and modding tools developers) received residuals for the sales. It'd be ridicules to let some publisher make profit out of hours of work that we spent for no personal gain.
|
Not if that publisher is responsible for many years of enjoyment far outseeding the price you originaly paid for the game.
|
Well, the publisher is not responsible for the years of enjoyment...
|
I'm pretty sure Didier Chanfrey had a part to do with it though, and he's listed as the "company" for the game right?
