GOG.com re-releases Little Big Adventure

1 Attachment(s)
At the end of 1994 Frederick Raynal and his team at Adeline Software released Little Big Adventure, a unique action/adventure game. Over the years it became increasingly more difficult to get a hold on a copy of LBA. And eventually only an occasional second hand copy could be found.

Now 17 years after the initial release, GOG.com re-releases the game for the world to re-experience the wonderful world of Little Big Adventure.
For a mere $5,99 you can buy a digital copy of Little Big Adventure at GOG.com. This release has been fixed to work properly on modern systems. It contains full text and speech for English, French and German; and text-only for Italian and spanish. It's also free from any pesky DRM. So spread the word an let others experience what they have been missing out on.

Note: this is not a joke (unlike last time)

Important! For some reason the links do not work when you're on the front page. Please go to the forum thread first, and then click the link.

elmuerte 2011-10-11 12:00

Btw, if you buy this game by following any of the links from the MBN you will also support the MBN a little bit.

Just bought it (through the link). I can`t help noticing that there`s a dl, called "remake tech demo". I`m still downloading the whole bundle, so I can`t say what exactly is this demo.

EDIT: Now, I think that there`s something wrong. The tech demo is actually Jasiek`s project. If they didn`t ask permission from him, I don`t think it`s very appropriate for GOG, to make profit of his demo.

Mazaka151 2011-10-11 14:43

Bought it

Koypiout 2011-10-11 14:50

LBA 1 is out on GOG!

Of course, I've already bought it.
http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/little_big_adventure

Let's advertise the game around the Internet!

Now let's speculate on the release of LBA 2 on GOG!

On another note, one of the bonuses is "remake tech demo"... I'll have to wait to get home to know what it is!

BlazinBlack 2011-10-11 14:57

The link isn't working for me, it says "403 - Forbidden" ... but I'll buy it anyway!

Horadrim 2011-10-11 14:57

It`s Jasiek`s remake project. It`s not official remake, so I think that there`s a misunderstanding.

elmuerte 2011-10-11 15:09

For some reason the links do not work when you're on the front page. From the forum they do work properly.

Odysseus 2011-10-11 15:11

Release date october 10, 1996?
That can't be right, right?

edit

Ow, nvm. Hmmm.

edit 2

Hmmm...Still confused... somehow it is already fixed... lol

100% sure it said 1996 till 1 minute ago.

Archas 2011-10-11 15:24

Bought! ;)

But adeline no existe ... So fred will not receive money?

Homeless 2011-10-11 15:24

Bought! Of course. And by following a link from the MBN.

Would've liked to see the soundtrack as additional content though.

developer / publisher: Adeline Software International / Didier Chanfray SARL
Didier Chanfray SARL is listed as the publisher. Seems he's got the rights.

It's been removed from GOG. It's a project by the MBN member Jasiek, but it's no longer active and has been incorporated into another project named Little Script Adventure. Main thread can be found here. Little Script Adventure forum is here.

Again thanks ;)

Battler 2011-10-11 16:10

Now I wonder why GOG didn't release the Japanese version as well? :?

Archas 2011-10-11 16:17

You'll have to run the language selector application as administrator.

Thanks ;)

Darkflame 2011-10-11 16:26

Well, they are free to put my Swede in the bundle instead if they want :D

Awesome stuff.
Downloading now - cant wait to see over those bonus's.

We also have to start organising a premotional effort...

Horadrim 2011-10-11 16:34

Did anyone have any problems with the game? It crashes on my comp, right after showing the white screen, before the Adeline logo and playing the first few tunes from the Adeline intro :S .

Archas 2011-10-11 17:05

There is a bonus, with pictures of the development team!

It can be seen fred on holiday in the French Alps ^^!

ChaosFish 2011-10-11 17:19

I never did buy LBA1, I got it installed (pirated) on my computer when I was 9 years old. Only bought LBA2.

So, just bought it now from GOG.

But I'd like to know if Fred and his team are profiting from this, or if the money just goes to Activision / other publisher. Can anyone tell?

Diego 2011-10-11 17:22

Great News!!!

LuKeXhunter 2011-10-11 17:31

It's amazing to see LBA again and now compatible with modern systems, I'm just wondering, since it has no portuguese text, can I change the TEXT.hqr to a portuguese one without problem?

I assume they get something, given that Didier is listed under publisher/developer.

In either case, good sales here will encourage more to come :)

Homeless 2011-10-11 18:19

The installer just went from 128 mb (I think, around that) to 416 mb. What has changed, does anyone know?

Edit: Just found out why

Please download the game one more time and enjoy the CDA-quality music! :)

I apologise for the inconvenience.

Cool because I thought the music was bad!

Darkflame 2011-10-11 18:41

Someone on the gog forum complained.
I LOVE GOG - and this is why.
They really care about doing the best they possibly can :)

btw, the concept art is fantastic :D some is really cute.
As is the photo of the Adeline team :p
(anyone know what that gesture is they are making with their fingers?)

Horadrim 2011-10-11 18:47

I was thinking is it possible to ask them, or Didier, to release all concepts from LBA. As I see, there are very interesting pieces, like the rejected character for example.

MatheusMK3 2011-10-11 18:50

As soon I get my credit-card I will buy it, so excited!

thehen 2011-10-11 18:58

Amazing news!

Battler 2011-10-11 19:00

Again, why I like the fact GOG re-released LBA 1, I'm just displeased by the fact they only re-released the European edition, and not the Japanese edition as well. There's so far no way of running the Japanese edition on a modern system, with the exception of DosBox, virtual machines, or FunnyForg's patch. LbaWin crashes with the Japanese edition. It's quite sad. Japan has about 130 million people, so it's hardly a minority language as well. Why no-one seems to care about the Japanese edition, is beyond me. And to say the Japanese voices are by far superior than either English, French or German ones. :(

Maybe you could complain in the GOG.com forums, they really listen. Or you could contact them. ;)

MatheusMK3 2011-10-11 19:07

BTW, has someone checked Didier's Facebook today (this called my attention while MBN was loading): lba1 available on G.O.G. from 2:00 p.m (French time)

I rather ask why you care so much about a japanese release? Or did you want to buy it as a gift to your japanese gf?
Maybe the game didn't sell well there...
Ah well, maybe they will reissue that versio now as well. I usually care if it Happens the other way around: secret of mana 2 for example :)

TAurus 2011-10-11 19:46

Just bought the game via magicball link. Thank you.

Renesans 2011-10-11 19:50

Does littlebigadventure.com belong to the MBN? Because there's a typo in the title, it says "Twisen's Adventure" instead of "Twinsen's Adventure".

BlazinBlack 2011-10-11 21:05

i hope that the newer version with 4xxMB fixes the problem with the too silent voices. anyone had the same "problem"?

Jasiek 2011-10-11 21:31

What was that about the Remake??

Actually, this GOG release runs on DosBox anyway

They originally inclued your remake with the GOG.com release as part of the bonus content but then they removed it. :?

Streg 2011-10-11 21:59

That's weird isn't it? Bought and downloading! Can't wait to see the extras!
PS: I think that for legal issues those who bought the game shouldn't post here images and wallpapers included with the game

morshem 2011-10-11 22:08

Is that for real? Nice.
