Forget that, look what Virgin and Google are doing ;)

Oh... smart me. April fool's.
Why couldn't this be reality?? :-/ |
Clever clever Chaosfish!
|
Yes. My excuses are that I haven't slept for the last 24 hours, I only read the articles roughly, I'm already used to Darkflame posting true amazing news, and uhm.., that's all I can think of.
|
Hm, hm, hm. I hate April's fools... it's really pointless to see any news... Still, let's hope it is actually true - to some extent...
|
Would be so lmao if they in 2011 (or sumthing) makes up some super-fuel for a super-engine and the expedition is happening for real in 2013 :D
|
Electrical model of the universe:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...33652394&hl=pl That's quite plausible actually... unless I wasn't listening too carefully ;). |
Google are heavily sponsering the Luner Xprize, and Virgin are the backers of SpaceShipTwo...the first commercial space plane.
So they are both heavily into space advancement. However, neither are planning mars colonys yet...sorry ;) It is neat however, how they collaborated over the fools, the founders of both companys doing videos. They probably decided to do this as they have real connections with the xprize. Also, be sure to fill out the questionaire :D |

I've talked about the futuroscope augmented reality attraction with some friends today, and I found out you can download a program to generate augmented animals with your webcam, you just need to download the small program and print the sheet. It works pretty well (I tried with na old webcam in the dark, and it worked fine).
http://www.lesanimauxdufutur.com/ --> skip the intro and click on "L'expérience". |
I just browsed through the program files and I found out that they're using ogre to render the animals, and we could easily replace the models with models from LBA :) I'll give it a try later...
|
Actualy, I had a plan to make a holomap :p
That was using ARKit or something. |
Wow, I didn't know there were libraries to play with augmented reality (I'll check that). Yeah an holomap would be nice. I've managed to display a dinofly yesterday night with the futuroscope stuff. I'll display some other characters from LBA2 and post it here.
|
Fun, fun, fun!
http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/4...rescopemu2.png Now, why isn't there a quick way of adding your own models?! I can see that the models have a .dat format... |
In fact those .dat are renamed .zip containing Ogre files. So I downloaded the 3dsMax Ogre exporter and tried to use a mesh from LBA2. I spent some time creating a skeleton (the program requires one) and try to animate the dinofly (I've not used 3DSmax in a long long time, I had to learn it all over again). Then the program expects to find particular animations sequences like "idle" in the models, so I had to make that work. I still have some scale problems. Anyway, you know the way to add your own content.
-- That ARToolKit seems easy to use, I'd like to make a chess game in AR. If only I had some time. |
I find it a tad easier working with ARToolkit as it supports X files. [\queue theme theme tune].
Allthough dosnt seem to be as easier to get good results as Futuramascopes thing. I look forward too seeing anything you make :) |
|
I think the futuroscope thing uses the ARToolKit, or something quite similar anyway.
|
Yeah, I just managed to replace all entries.

The world needs more awesomeness, it needs moar giant robots! Damnit!
The giant robot project. Scroll down for explanation, scroll up again to review progress. http://jamius.com/Robot/Robot.html http://jamius.com/Robot/Likethis.JPG |
There needs to be an explanation?
Since when do giant robot plans need explanations? Dosnt everyone have them? |
That Wii-mote using inventor dude;
