Nintendo People

Does anyone read Nintendo Official Mag? If you do, did anyone notice in the last issue that there was a competition running to get a job as a staff writer. I sent in, but this month I can't find anything about it! Even the website info seems to have vanished from the face of the earth. To run it in worse I had to supply an idea for a cover gift.....and bugger me if they didn't use it on this month's mag!!! BASTARDS!!!

Rex_Hollywood 2004-04-16 18:43

I have an issue of the NOM from a few years ago, before the Gamecube came out and was called Dolphin or something.

By the way, what's with the really "sinking" back buttons in the Gamecube controller (y'know, those strange white ones)?
Oh, and the Gamecube CDs are really cute ^_^

the_angry_monkey 2004-04-16 19:15

The shoulder buttons on the GC controller are analogue, hence their size! It's really very cool

Bushmeister 2004-04-16 20:01

I used to get NOM, but quite ages ago. Even for me their reviews were becoming too biased. Poorly written too. I heard they did a remake a while ago but I stick with NGC nowadays.

the_angry_monkey 2004-04-16 20:13

NOM is definitely not my fave mag - I usually get Games TM (and used to buy PC Format til JAmes Binns left and it went crap) - but I really need a job, and what beeter than writing about games :D

Q-Wi-Q 2004-04-17 08:49

I don't like the idea of nintendo making a independent magazine too much... they're so hippyish :/

"2003 was a great year for nintendo!"
to hell it wasn't! :P

the_angry_monkey 2004-04-17 13:05

No but 2004 will be esp with Zelda 4 swords coming out - that looks sweet :D

Panda 2004-04-17 13:08

EDGE is the best :D

Rex_Hollywood 2004-04-17 13:16

Yes, PC Gamer can be quite amusing.

Q-Wi-Q 2004-04-17 16:31

gamesmaster had one review that cracked me up, it was the N64 review for "Superman!"

"You will have more fun opening a milk carton!"
"Superman is as speedy as a flying brick!"
"Watch his arms come off as he throws a punch!"

god that was soooo funny :P dunno if GM still exists though...

Darkflame 2004-04-17 16:35

Nintendo magazine said something about improveing their site, that might be it.

As for the cover idea, the are always late with their compititions, they will get to it though :p

I agree.
They have great articals, but sometimes their reviews are just stupid.
Mario Kart:DD...the dumb stuff they said about that i couldnt believe.

There the best bit of the GC's controll pad.
Analogue Sensitive and they click down....heck, you dont even need a game to have fun with them :p

Depends how you messure it.
Profits ~ not too good.
Games ~ very good.
Poor Sales of Gamecube in Europe ~ Bad
Absolutely crap sales of Xbox in japan ~ Good
GBA/GBASP sales ~ Mind-blowingly good
Sales of some AAA games (F-Zero, Viewfull Joe) ~ Depressingly bad

ect. ect :D

Hell Yerrr!
Nintendo Magazine has certainly improved a lot since a few years back.

Yes, I get all my info on GC and PC games from seperate mags, I only read Edge for the articles, the reviews are quite dodgy sometimes.

Twinsal 2004-04-17 18:12

Ha! In dutchieland, we have the best multiplatform mag in the world: Power Unlimited. And except for that one, I also read Ngamer.

Gustav Sweden 2004-04-17 18:56

Most gaming magazines are shit, because they are too shallow. Edge, however, has good rumours, although i heard they lowered their quality recently (sexism?). I subscribe to the Swedish multiplatform mag Super Play, it is quite cool, with deeper reviews, interesting articles and lots of big retro specials. It doesnt swallow EA and MS shit.

Darkflame 2004-04-17 20:42

DONT get me started on EA :p
The UK charts last christmass was 95% EA games....it was just stupid :(

Q-Wi-Q 2004-04-18 14:52

E-A GAMES! *whisper* challenge everything *whisper* ZWAP!

I HATE that movie when booting simcity 4, feel like a loser whenever I hear it :/

Darkflame 2004-04-18 17:18

I still have to buy Sim City 4 sometime.
Sim City 3000 let me down, IMO 2000 was far better.
---

Incidently, I just got Nintendo magazine today.
Dunno about the compition but it comes with a PC CD with NES games on it!
Seriously, Nintendo are given away emulated copys of their old games :)

Arg...scratch that, its just crappy demos and info on the game.
Frelling false advertising by the magazine.
I knew it was too good to be true.

Q-Wi-Q 2004-04-19 09:11

I like 4, because it's kept quite small, but you can interact between different cities you make...

Good advertising / bad advertising / good cd / shit cd makes no differencce, it was still my freakin idea they stole !!! :D

Darkflame 2004-04-19 20:22

Wait that was your idea?
I thought you were refering to one of the previous gifts (keyrings, fridgemags, Music Cds...)

Hmz..well, email them politey.
They might thought they emailed you but messed up.

the_angry_monkey 2004-04-19 22:18

Yup! Emailed them on sunday but still nothing. Was very polite too - just asked about the status of the compo etc

Darkflame 2004-05-06 00:50
