ideas for Mobile promotion!

So, how?

elmuerte 2014-04-02 00:40

Easy, get it promoted in the store. That's the only way (besides going viral) to get it to sell.

Polaris 2014-04-02 01:57

Rename it "Flappy Quetch" :D

marcosmapf 2014-04-02 02:48

You can always edit Twinsen's model and add wings aswell

How? (other then rating it highly)

elmuerte 2014-04-02 19:42

If it gets sold a lot it might get featured. It's a chicken egg problem.

JBrothersz 2014-04-02 21:19

Well, I was thinking to make a video review of the new version, and then post it on YouTube? I don't have a big name or something, but I might as well give it a shot!

Darkflame 2014-04-02 21:58

Let me know if you do, I'll be sure to spread it around.

Axx 2014-04-04 08:51

Create a clean, simple to read, and direct to the point draft letter that we can send to the various editors of vg news websites (esp app review websites), and magazines.

But you already mentioned that, and I can't think of anything else worthwhile.

Maybe start a thread asking members if they're active members on another forum, and have them post about it there too.

JBrothersz is onto something. We could see if we could persuade one of the higher subscribed youtube reviewers to glance over it.

As I've said in two other threads, for the love of god, we should REALLY hold off until they fix the controls. I'm a fan and even I think they're atrocious.

Darkflame 2014-04-04 19:16

I agree with waiting for now.

Not sure about having one letter though. I think in many ways its better if websites get a selection of prompts from fans.
One form-letter might feel too much like they are being spammed by a specific community, rather then a general interest in the game.

Axx 2014-04-04 22:34

I could always be creepy and just call up their offices and put on the official Axx official voice?

I second to this

Anyway, we should realy wait a little more then. When DotEmu releases a fix, then we can start sending forms and things like that.

About talking to a youtuber, the problem would be finding the correct one.
What I mean is, we need a youtuber that has the "correct" type people subscribed to him/her (Gamers that enjoy cellphone video games and/or LBA-like game), a good influence on the community and will be willing to spend their time doing the review. that is not an easy task.

Darkflame 2014-04-05 14:24

Well, we know Yahtzee likes LBA. But if anyone is going to give a negative review of anything its him.

Axx 2014-04-05 23:24

It's a little bit different in his case, as he tends to blast everything and anything. If the control are ok, even if he does rant, he'll probably tone it down considering he is a fan and that in itself would be seen as a thumbs up with his viewership!

I'll have a look on youtube and pm you if i found any potential reviewers we could engage with.

LethalSwordsMan 2014-07-30 12:52

How's this progressing?

Whatever the case we have plenty of time on our side, even if the games get re-released and don't kick off straight away, we can wait til the right type of reviewer gets the rep we need to have an impact on bringing awareness to the LBA series.

Alternatively if we can get a whole bunch of reviewers with decent or okay viewerships, we can build up hype that way. Ideally, anything that brings attention to the big fish would be great to have, but we need the hype to be around when the future team begins development or gathering sponsors for LBA 3. That can't be stressed enough, so time isn't an issue at the moment, if anything we need to wait on it.

Long story short: if anybody sees amything that would fit the description well, post it here so we can pool together potential reviewers for a review in the future.

Darkflame 2014-07-30 14:33

Well, if we are talking of written reviews almost all those sites have a news submit thing.
So thats easy. I really think it will take hardly any effort to get big gaming sites to cover it. Just a few emails sent by different people will prompt them into thinking theres demand for it.

Video reviews are tougher - all the popular ones will be inundated with ideas all the time. We can post under their videos, but not too much more we can do.
I am active, as a co-incidence, in forums for both Linkara (comic reviewer) and Spoony (umm...anything really). Linkara barely ever checks his forum, and Spoony never.
I don't know how representational they are of reviewers in general.
Its certainly worth trying to get Yahtzee to cover it though. The pay-offs in exposure would be huge. Even if its just a slim chance to get him to review.

Less popular reviewers can be found on sites like http://www.manic-expression.com
and they are friendly/open to discussion. But their views are tiny so I dought its worth it.

I love this twitter incidently;

 at that twitter :D

LethalSwordsMan 2014-07-30 18:05

Hmm, well at this stage we certainly don't have enough active members to prompt a realistic chance of a response for a video review, we'd need 20+ in quick succession just to get a look in and that's assuming that there aren't other gaming fans already doing this for other games - which you've just pointed out there clearly are. We're going to have to build up our forces.

Until the though, we could definitely have a go at the written reviews, how many people would be wiling to send out emails that are active now? If we can get written reviews then we can use those as a weapon themselves for future promotion (provided they're good) but even until then it might be worth gathering any old reviews there may have been for the original releases of the games as well.

At this stage we need to do the following:
- Grab what we can find in terms of current reviews
- Find our next targets (I believe you had a list?) and
- See what personnel we can assemble to start sending out emails and harassing reviewers (in the nicest possible way of course ;) ).

You (DF) seem to know which doors to knock on, if you can think of anyone you haven't already mentioned above, add them to the list. I'll see if I can find a bunch of reviews to see what we can expect and I'll be on the lookout for sites we should approach that haven't been listed as a starting/reference point.

Meanwhile, anybody who would like to put their hand up for sending out emails or group spamming reviewers when the time comes (imagine it to be sooner rather than later), make your intentions known by posting here or otherwise.

Let's build some interest up on these forums again shall we? :D

Darkflame 2014-07-30 19:01

Absolutely agreed. I am just annoyed I am so busy now with work.

Just a list of gaming news websites here;

Still LOTS left to email there.

Reviewers can be added to that list too though - I only noted down what came to my head at first.

Will do.

marcosmapf 2014-08-05 03:50

Count me in, I have barely no free time except on weekends, but I will find a way to spam those reviewers aswell :)

LethalSwordsMan 2014-08-05 07:24

I've only been able to find two reviews, and although they aren't awful, they've both been on the poorer side of attractiveness. There is a common consensus that it hasn't aged well and part of that stems from the opinion that the controls are awful.

http://www.metacritic.com/game/ios/little-big-adventure

Most concerning is that the second of the two reviews, one of them claimed to have played it on PC back in the day, yet said you used mouse and keyboard to move Twinsen?

The first review was before key updates to the best of my recollection but the second one is just a poor excuse for journalism (which reviews essentially are). Does anyone know if these errors have been fixed? If so we need to bring attention to the positives of the remake (without bias) to first of all counter these reviews.

I might be able to come up with something after I download it and try it myself.

JBrothersz 2014-12-05 09:30

Hello guys!
Almost a year ago I told you that I was planning on making a video review of the iOS port. Well, I thought it would be better to make a review of the original DOS LBA 1 and end it with the PS1 and the iOS ports so that people can see the differences.
I've captured all the footage that I want to use and recorded a voice over. I want to edit it all this weekend and upload it to YouTube.
I also want to make a mention to the GOG.com version of the game and to this forum.
What do you guys think?

Darkflame 2014-12-05 14:38

Sounds like a fantastic ideas to me :)

marcosmapf 2014-12-05 16:27

Post the link in here as soon as you upload the video :)
Looking forward to watch your review!

JBrothersz 2014-12-05 18:50

That's great to hear!

I surely will! It's my first game review and I want it to be good. The editing will happen tomorrow and I hope it will be finished on the same day too.
