Hmm, try -aspi instead of -ioctl if you're using linux. And please report back if it works or not, I'll update the guide if it works

-aspi doesn't work...

Chaos, here is what I am typing

mount e /Volumes/ADELINE -t cdrom -label ADELINE -aspi

That is all in one line. Then it responds back by saying

MSCDEX: Mounted subdirectory: limited support.
Drive E mounted as CDRom

Sounds reasonably good from here, then when I try to run it, same No CD error. I tried reinstalling it using that command, and still nothing. Any Linux or OSX guru's out there care to lend a hand? Any more ideas Chaos?

I'm afraid I don't know what to do... never really used Linux.

I suggest starting a thread in VOGONS (DOSBox section), they are the DOSBox developers and they'll probably have the answer.

Installation Directions

Hi y'all. I succeeded in getting LBA2 running in Windows 2000 using DOSBox. Yay! Well actually it was more of a success in installing LBA2 b/c I too had a problem with awful sound jitters, graphic artifacts, and so on. But I noticed that even though I needed DOSBox for the installation, LBA2 ran just fine from Windows 2000 afterwards. Now gameplay is normal.

While using the DOSBOX directions for LBA2, I noticed that the directories on my CD didn't correspond to those in the directions. The directions indicate that there should be an install program in the root directory of the CD. In my case, the only program in that directory is SPLASH.EXE. Then I have the following directories: DIRECTX, DOS, HELP, SPLASH, TWINSEN, W95. Obviously, the DOS directory contained the executable I needed in order to install using DOSBOX. Maybe my CD is older, or from a different country than the one from the tutorial (mine is from the USA, circa 1998). (I noticed that my CD is "different" when I read about the PopCorn program that's on the CD in another thread somewhere on this site. Incidentally, I can't find that program on my CD.) Or maybe this is just a typo in the tutorials? Well whatever then

Thanks for the information, I'll check it in Twinsen's Odyssey to see how it works there. (I tested it on the european LBA2 version)

Try to copy the Speech to Hard Disk and enable this option.

modo, as I wrote in the guide:
Quote:
Now, outside of DOSBox, copy the folder "VOX" from the LBA1 cd to the folder which you installed LBA1 in. If you don't want to copy all VOX files, just copy the VOX files in your language from the CD VOX folder to the LBA1 installation VOX folder (for English it's all files starting with "EN_").

Yeah, DOSBox is quite slow on 'old' computers.
Hopefully it will improve.

Good. Will try right now to know if I could play the LBA well in this version.

Edit: ChosFish, change the dosconfig download link to the new one.
Quote:
2. Download the attached dosbox.conf.zip and extract to DOSBox folder (C:\Program Files\DOSBox-0.61 by default).
Also the folder

I have read through the thread, and although I have found many reports of the noCD problem, I havent seen any way to fix it. Please excuse me if I am just being blind by not seeing it. I am running it at the moment on my older computer, and havent tried it on my good computer yet, but I have to transfer the files via floppy (the other comp isnt online), so it might just be the fact that it is a 333mhz processor. I would still apreciate any help on the no CD function however, as I have put in all of the commands, and am at a loss as to why it isnt working.
I have just tried it on my fast computer: everything is up to speed, but again it claims there is no CD, even though I have followed the instructions. The CD worked for instalation, but it just doesnt want to play the game, it just says there is no CD
.
