MBN downtime March 31

The MBN was down today for a couple of hours because the system disk was about to die.
It took me a long time to back up the data, restoring it took less time.
You'll notice that the system is now a bit faster, the old (broken) hd was the master to it's brokeness was slowing the whole system down.

Excellent job, you handled it pretty quickly. And I'm glad everything is still intact.

Well wouldn't say quickly.
The whole job could have been completed within a couple of hours, but the disk was in quite a bad shape and I didn't have any recent full system backups. Actually, I only backup data and configuration files. It took me maybe 2 hours max, the rest was waiting.

* Ricochet looks shifty.

You can't prove I was there!

Anyways, it's not like it happens a lot so it's okay...

It reminds me of the downtime at November 2002 (due to a fire at the university). It was before I even became addicted to the forum, but I remember thinking then "What? The site has died? What will I do with the internet now??"
And I was actually sick during those 3 days.

I installed a plugin for the forum to create nicer urls, but that didn't work out well (as you have noticed).
