WHAT?! ONE THOUSAND?!

Purchased Resident Evil 1 Remake for GC today; great stuff The graphics are amazing and the game is every bit as good as the original (even moreso with the new scenes and dialogues), but the old ink ribbon saving system and hella limited inventory is annoying as hell.

It's my rank!

Quote:
There are 43 ranks in Battlefield 2142. You gain ranks by getting points through actions in the game. When you reached the required career point, you get promoted instantly inside the game. New unlocks are avaialble to you whenever you rank up. The first 40 ranks advancements give you each one unlock per rank up.

All ranks are gotten by getting points and when the total is higher then the number noted here for a given rank, that rank is awarded. The highest ranks, here noted with a needed score of 0, are given out in a special way, the specifics are not yet known. The rank of Supreme commander can only be held by one player at a time.
http://bf2142fever.com/content/Ranks

More simply, I'm in the top 10,000 players altogether at the moment

Gotten started on STALKER: Shadow Of Chernobyl today. Pretty decent so far; I like how the world around you keeps "living" even when you're not around to see it - a guy who was sitting under a bridge an hour ago could just suddenly be fighting off bandits at the car park later, or the guys at the camp could go fight mutants. The AI is pretty good as well - during a firefight with a group of bandits one of them managed to sneak up on me from behind without me even noticing. Plus it runs a lot better on my system than I expected (aside from the occasional slowdown when it's loading). All in all it's a heck of a lot of fun.

(oh, and if you're planning on getting it, don't forget to download the patch; I couldn't even quickload without it )

I wasn't too excited about Stalker, until I just now read the following review on NMA(a die-hard fallout fansite). Seems quite promising. I'd have to give it a try at some point.

I have FF VIII and I wonder - is there some kind of a pack or a patch to make it look nicer? Or at least to switch anti aliasing? Anwyay had to switch to software mode couse the graphics where all messed up.

And the games kinda boring... and the music makes my head hurt...
But I'll give it a try nontheless...

Oh, and btw, was there a FF IX on the PC? Couse it looks nicer on the screens...
Anyay, did the FFIX worked on PS1 or 2? Couse if it was on the first one I could emu it.

Well, if you got a NVidia graphics card you can force any AA mode on any hardware-based 3D game.
I guess ATI has the same.

There's also a 3rd party tool to do that - RivaTuner. It's also good if you have an old video card and want to overclock it safely. (it can actually turn GeForce 4 MX into a good video card)

I actually found out about somehting... and it makes me kinda mad...
Nvidia cards like 6000 and higher dont' have support for 8 bit textures and their usage of a single colour for transparency - so, all the scenery has a bunch of black coloured squares where it should be transparent so the game looks like crap... tried to force it with the aforementioned rivatuner(using it to unlock a bunch of stuff on my 6800XT to make it more powerfull then the GT)- but it was already on...

If I run the game in software mode the black spots are gone, but everything is in 256 colours without any filtering, and the charachter models look like crap couse they should have 16bit colours and becouse D3D is gone I can't run any AA or AF

SO! A BIG Comes to me mouth.

FFIX was only released for PS1 IIRC.

As for FFVIII, check out Qhimm; they have a lot of patches and programs to get FFVII & VIII to run, look, and sound better on modern PC's.

Thanks - found some stuff there - but it won't help with the graphics issue, it's just that 6K and newer NVIDIA cards don't support 8bit textures any more, and emulate them in 16bit mode, so during the emulation process the info about the colour 0,0,0 is lost, and so eveything that should be opaque is black...

Soooo, as there appears to be no solution for this the only option is to play in software mode -and as I play in software mode I can't run FAA or AF so it's 640x480 with all those pixels visible and no filtering on the textures... and it's butt ugly, without the filtering on everything - but this game is kinda fun actually, altough it's overly complicated at times...
