LBA1/2 DOSBox Guide - discuss

I did everything you said, and it almost worked, thaks a lot!!!! really!!!

But I still have that problem with sound, it's jumping and make all the game jumping... what should I do?

DMaT: you probably need to play with the Cpu Cycles a bit. I explained about it in "Notes & Tips". Also, use the new DOSBox version (0.61). Is it ok now? Please tell me

DosBox is a multiplatform (Windows, Linux) DOS emulator, if you didn't notice.

Already tried the cpu cycles, so the game runs faster, but still the sound is jumping as it was... It's has no connection...
Anyway LBA2is running perfectly without any DosBox, but I still wanna play the first one

My sound card is C-Media AC97 (MB buit-in)...

Why don't you use LbaWin?

Anyawy for DOSBox, did you set Sound Blaster Pro 2? If yes, perhaps you should try another sound card setting?
All sound card settings are to be emulated... at the end it all goes through DirectX.

Can't believe my misfortune...
I can't get this game to run and have th same problem as many before me - No CD. I followed the guide exactly (the only thing I was missing was the -iotcl tag, but it made no difference). Anybody has any new ideas?

EDIT: Tried DOSBox 0.60 with same mounts as in guide but it crashed with an error. With 0.61 I get the NoCD 'error'.

If you want to run LBA1 on windows you better use LbaWin.

In DOSBox you must use -ioctl for it to recognize the CD, or maybe there is some alternative command I'm not aware of.

Thank god I don't need LbaWin anymore or DosBox, Lba 1 works fine on my Dos. (Even though using the patch to make it work, it's still great. Weird falling bug though, but I don't care.)

EDIT: Forgot to use the spacebar before the 'god' word. ^^;

I can't believe it! The game works!
I just copied over the shortcut tags and modified them a bit, so they correspond to the correct drive letters and folders and it works! Thank you, ChaosFish!

The guide is great. LBA 2 worked fine with it on my XP machine.

i got as far as the adeline first page. then it tells me i have no cd. i followed the guide for lba1, i would use lba win but i still have no password to download it.

Register to LbaWin so you'll have a password.
If you still want DOSBox, make sure you did all steps exactly as they are written. If it still says no cd, check your cd disk label, is it "ADELINE" or something else?

It's strange but just 1 time (the first) I put DOSBox running with LBA1. The others time he gave the same error "No CD" .

Did you try to do the same thing I did? Just copy the shortcut tags, change them to suit your needs and perhaps it will work.

I don't use dosbox, I use a frontend for it which works pretty nice and is easy to customize... I don't remember the name (I'm on a diff pc now), but I'll look it into tonight...

I made some minor changes in the config: made default cpu cycles 8000, disabled the mouse cursor in windowed mode, and maybe some more changed I don't remember.

Hi all. I could really use a little help here. I have seen some postings on people getting LBA1 to run on Linux. They just have to overcome the "can't find the cd" thing. When they explain how they did it, they use the "-t cdrom" command or "-ioctl" command. Can someone tell me exactly how to type this in to get it to work? I can mount the ADELINE disk. I can mount and install the game. But whenever I try to run it...BAM, no cd. Any help on this subject I would truely appreciate. Note: I am using Radnor on OSX running Dosbox 6.1. Thank you.
