Censorship of links

Hi.
I think that if someone posts a link, and writes a warning next to it what kind of stuff that link leads to, then the link should be allowed.

Because the poster isn't forcing people to see anything, and also, if he doesn't post a link to porn or whatever, it's not like the little kids here can't get porn themselves, so it makes no difference.

Also from what i understand neko's link wasn't even porn.

Does editing people posts make porn disappear from the world?
If kids want to see porn they can do it themselves, posting a porn link her makes no difference.

That argument doesn't count because one could say the same about warez.

I agree with the mod action because there was absolutely no indication it was about porn nor was there any warning.
Flashgames (I take it was one), also can contain porn.

Even with these things, we agreed not to use any sort of porn (not counting "natural beauty" ) because we also have the chance to get TOSsed out (we claim to be relatively an all ages forum, and so we should behave like one)

Link be allowed to images of that kind of a nature, but there must be a clear warning in the post either directly before/after the link. And why not make it clickable? As long as the warning (Not school/work safe) or whatever is there, it shouldn't be a problem. Especially since it is an all age forum. Why should more mature members have to be limited because of younger ones?

Warning or no warning, you got to try harder than that. This forum is for everyone and especially for the children, based for LBA games. I don't want MBN to turn like other warez site. Fred won't be proud of this. You might understand it sometimes.

I'm kinda cool with it if it is not alowed. Personally I didn't even realise it was porn, since it's just animated and a funny game. Personally don't see the harm of it, but like I said I wasn't thinking about the rules that time.

maybe you could make some forums code thingy that checks the age in the users profile and if the are the right age allows the link to be shown to that user e.g.

I am not against the idea or completely for it, either way it doesn't bother me and like what anakin said if the kiddies want porn they can find it, although I don't really think this is a good idea.

I don't aprove of censorship myself, unless in extreme cases. But if we want this website to be meant for all ages, we can't just allow things to go right and left. I don't exactly know what Neko had linked to (although, I can do a pretty good guess), but even animated sexual explicit content can offend youngsters.

There's actually a lot of leway as far as censorship goes on this forum. In my opinion, a lot of stuff that is "maturely suggestive" has been allowed, and by comparison to many other messageboards, you are allowed to cuss. On a forum I used to visit constantly, I almost got banned for saying "rape" and "bitch" while talking about a novel.

On this forum, you can at least drop the F bomb however many times you want. Count your blessings.

True, but on many forums cussing is prohibited just as much as pornography. I was just point out the fact that on MBN you have higher than average freedom of expression.

Actually, I'm 18, and if I was randomally browsing through the site (for example) and just happen to stumble upon an erotic/sexual image of some sort and my mommy saw it...well, she would be at least somewhat apprehensive about it. I mean really, why wouldn't she?

So I think the same for others. What if some 14 year old kid, who isn't at all offended by such things, happens to browse the forum with another person (perhaps his perants or something) and comes accross something explicit and gets in trouble for it?

I know I'm treading tough grouns here, which is why I think the best way to resolve this is if all "suggestive" material be sent to moderators for approval before posting. It's as simple as that. If the administrators believe that a certain something is okay for people to see, it's allowed. If it's not allowed, well, then there must be a good reason for it.

I agree with certain people that simply putting a stamp on things is a bad way to go about it, sometimes.


EDIT: Okay, you guys win. The polls have resulted in a landslide. The moderators totaly allow hardcore porn to be posted online. Go out with a bang, everyone.

Well, dunno about other parents, but I'm almost certain my parents would completely understand that (actually, when I was 15, my mother caught me viewing porn sites in the middle of the night, and she didn't mind that at all).
