Actually, what Christianism scandalized was initially not sex, but the nudity itself. And I can tell you, why: nudity was considered to be a sign of beauty. But the Bible states, that no-one can be more beautiful than God, so they made nudity immoral. And, as nudity was suddenly immoral, so was sex (we make sex naked, don't we?). And we all are doing nothing, but confirming the Christian Sex Tabu. So, please, let's stop this tabu. As long as there are pictures, that depic normal sex positions, they should be accepted, but when it starts going into strange ways, like paedophile, sado-maso, etc., then should we censor them.

I'm not even going to start on that. But I'll assume that out of everyone who has made comments about early Christian culture, I am the only one who has actually studied it for 3 years. Do correct me if I'm wrong mind you, then go back and READ what I wrote earlier.

Nudity taboo is part of most cultures decended from Euro-Asian culture, this goes back way before Christianity or even Judaism

I beleive that there are a number of roots for "modesty" but your orignial statement suggested this all came from Christianinty which is simply false. Your statement quoted here made much more sense

Actually, what O_Bras said makes som sense, or is at least logical. I've never thought of the nudity taboo though having originated because it dissed the beauty of God. Actually, for many japanese (at least the older generation), nudity is respected and isn't considered a taboo because it represents the creation of god.

Pandy, this you think because you don't follow the events in the LBA Modifications and Fan Games forums. Do you know how many programs I created? What you see on other forums, is just about 50% of my post, the other half is in those two.

I think another reason why nudity is being frowned upon in Abrahamic religions is because the root religion (Judism), tried about anything to distinguish themselves from the 'barberic' religions around them. This had its good results (no human-sacrefices) but also created the nudity-taboo.
Islam didn't really take it from Christianity. They 'forbid' nudity because Islam says that women have to be protected from the urges of man. And since the majority of the Qu'ran has reflections upon the situation of that time, presumably women were only seen as lust objects. Damning nudity was a part of elevating the status of women.

However, Obras does have a point with the beauty of God. There are a few stories I believe dealing with this.

The hormones probably play a role as well, but I'd say social conditioning's part in this is bigger.

My assumption is just that survival of the specie is much easier if both partner are as willing to reproduce, so the differences shouldn't be physical.

Of course, there's always the example of the duck to contradict this...
