Not really (much)tech, and obviously expensive, but cool in terms of "what you can get done in the modern world"

https://getmagic.com/

tldr; Its like having a personal assistant to do anything for you. Look at the example page.

Interesting. Less expansive than I would have imagined for what it offers.

It's like a less disturbing version of a Meeseeks Box. [emoji14]

Cool stuff.
But it is important to note this has been achieved before - a few times at different places. The trick is scaling it up and maintaining net-energy out of it.

That's some mind blowing stuff. I don't even know what to say. I subscribed to sciencealert.com (thanks Jasiek) and I keep getting incredible unbelievable news that I don't understand well enough to have a real judgement of what they really mean to the world. But it sure ignites the imagination.

For example: https://news.wsu.edu/2017/04/10/nega...reated-at-wsu/
???!?

I'd... I'd really love to fly one of these!

Two things come in mind...

BG&E hover thingy and Nausicaa flying thingy.

Creepy time

Draw a face and it tries to make it like a painting using a nureal net.
Comes out pretty disturbing most of the time.

Also, more importantly;
http://www.space.com/37072-spacex-fi...on-launch.html

tldr; A previously used spacecraft - or a significant part of it anyway - has been used successfully to deliver cargo to the ISS.....and then itself recovered again for re-use.
Mr Musk and his SpaceX company have firmly now placed humans in he era of re-usable rockets rather then the "chuck most of it away each time" which was the norm till now.

I skimmed through it, I'm no judge of feasibility here so I'll just hope he succeeds. Would be interesting. Not the the world is boring otherwise. But right now we're at a point of time where no living thing from Earth ever reached outside the orbit of our own planet, in all the billions of years life existed on this planet. Would be a pretty big leap to humans making colonies on another planet so fast. Not that it would be much different from all the other giant leaps that happened recently. Exciting times!

Indeed.
He is probably wildly optimistic with the scale of his plan, but given how successful his company has been at making stuff reusable it seems likely he will at least get some people on mars - even if the plan is scaled back.

Emm, there are more then 50 men frozen in Russia by KrioRus company by November of 2016, so this is not a new thing at all.
Another thing is there is no reliable way to unfreeze this people and turn them back to life.

Well, they need to learn how to freeze/unfreeze without damage and cure whatever the original problem was and raise the dead :P
Alternatively, some brave soul needs freeze themselves while alive.

She was frozen after her heart stopped beating, which is only the clinical definition of death. Not really dead. But yes would be easier if they froze living and healthy people. If that's Russia we're talking about they probably already did that.

Kroll - Ok, that's pretty cool! And yet November 2016 is less than a year ago. We're not progressing at that much of a crazy speed just yet to categorize that as "not new at all"... I think.
