Animal Crossing

Who went out and bought Animal Crossing on its UK release and how is it all going for you. Maybe we should set up a Trade thread in the forum...

I've got a Gamecube, but Animal Crossing doesn't appeal to me at all.

Does anyone know if you can use trade codes between the US and UK versions?

I wanted it, I was annoyed that it hadn't received a PAL release, but now that it's out I don't feel like buying it anymore :|

Done and Done

EDIT:

Or it would be if I could work out how to edit the damn poll!

I thought of adding the following...

N/A(2) - I don't know what Animal Crossing is because I have been living under a small rock for the last 18 months entertaining my frog bride with Russian dancing moves I learnt from a travelling salesman in Equador.

The PAL Release is good.... but it is no longer compatible with ereader cards....which is a bitch cos I imported one especially. Its quite fun tho cos all the people in my house live in the town.

I'll pick it up sometime in the next month or two.
Quirky games are my main genra.
Got some GBA games to finnish first though, as well as some cube games that deserve a second play though. (Or a third in the case of Beyond Good and Evil)

eek.
That makes getting the NES games harder then.

Well ,can you use it with MarioBros3 on the GBA at least?
(apperently theres new suits and levels you can get on cards in the US...probably the first decent use of the ereader system).

Cool - I think the PAL release uses codes instead of e-reader cards so you can get the stuff... E-reader arrived today, will play with it and give you a verdict. Found a website where they cracked the e-reader codes so I can literally print my own games, or run nes calssics or z80 classics on my GBA - COOL

http://users.skynet.be/firefly/gba/e-reader/index.htm

EDIT

The e-reader is pretty cool. You can either use it directly with the US animal crossing, or it gives you a code to mail to a villager who will then give you your prize - therefore it is compat with UK animal crossing (in theory - I'll soon know if I get my prize or not) Very nice little invention - especially if you buy trading cards anyway. It's apparantly region encoded though... more to come

Yes, i thought the E-reader was a bit wasted potential wise.

I mean, basicaly, you got a method to put small bits of game code on the cheapest mass-medium there is : Paper.

Nintendo should have dumped levels/items/demos on cereal packets, newspapers ect
Lots of stuff could have been done with it.

Im glade someone hacked it though, thats really cool

Now printing e-reader stuff in magazines would have been a great idea. Th pokemon cards come with a Pokedex entry on the short side and a game on the long side - if you collect all the evolutions of a particular pokemon - just little arcadey bits. Each strip holds about 2.2kb of data btw.

same. this game is 2,5 years late. Ergo: not buying it.

(especially not since I sold my gamecube 2,5 years ago in frustration of not getting AC:P)

oh, please.
We got Doshin the Giant, america got Animal Crossing, it was a simple swap.
Both were expirmental games, it wasnt knowen which would be the most popular at the time of their releases.
It just so happens we are getting AC, and america still hasnt got DTG.

The only reason people get so worked up about Animal Crossing is that we didnt get it. Im sure its a good game, but it isnt a system saler by any means.
Also, i fear the game will flop in the UK, whenever it would be released. You only have to look at the top-ten charts to see this nations taste in games...it isnt pretty

Also, i hate to point this out, but you could have imported the game and it wouldnt have cost you a penny more.
(includeing postage...the US exchange rate is great for importers at the moment ^_^ )

I suppose they had to change it to make it easier to distrubute the codes in magazines and such
Still, it is stupid, they could easily have had it support both.

Got mine yesterday. Man, I love this game, it rulezzzzzzzz! I like my own little house, and my own little garden, and my own little village, and my own little parasol, and my own little island, and my own little gyroid, and my own little collections and my own little....eh. got a little carried away. But I think I've made my point. I still hate the fact we got AC this late and without e-reader, but it's great as it is. It's a lot like Doshin The Giant. Both don't seem to offer much, but end up being addicting.
