Looks to me like the GOG version has also been updated:

Did anyone tune in yesterday? I sadly didn't have time. Does it look like they managed to assemble a good team and that they are on the right path to creating something enjoyable?

Yes, I watched the livestream. It was pretty cool, Didier was there, Fred too (although only for 2 seconds due to technical problems haha).
They presented some of the members of the team while playing a bit the new version of the game (with achievements and auto-camera). They tried to answer some questions about the directions they're going to take. Basically, it seems very open for now, although they have some concrete ideas already. For example they mentioned they will drop the 'behavior' modes, but they found a new way to do it that will "pay a homage" to it. |

I must say, I'm sad about the midi music being cut out

Awesome, looks like they're already better at getting things out of the door than the Duke Nukem Forever development team
![]() For me I think an "easy" fix to make the game better would be to add a "fair" mode where Twinsen gets invincible for enough frames after being hit to be able to start a counter-attack. Or a "nightmare mode" where the enemies use path-finding to get to Twinsen. |

Well, to be "fair", you can use the defensive spell to get invincible already!

I've always wondered if this was intentional. It didn't look planned, but it was certainly useful

Damn, I wish I had known that! I also heard that a lot of mechanics in games happened from bugs that turned out to make the game more fun or that served as inspiration

Yeah that could have saved me a lot of agonizing moments of getting hit over and over again without being able to react. But how was I supposed to know that?

I don't know... Change from whatever mode you were in to sporty to run away, I must've found out like that.

I recently played through both of the new releases (just new game, not the plus).
LBA1 is still mostly the same except for the wall hit, and the ability to bind normal behavior action to a single key. Especially the latter is really welcome. They did introduce a bug though, the action key doesn't respond immediate after switching behavior. Which is kinda annoying when quickly switching to aggressive mode. LBA2 has some significant chance with the auto center camera mode. I think the chase camera could do with a little more delay. But overall it was quite nice. However, using that mode with show significant rendering artifacts. For example, geometry culling close to the camera is quite aggressive and often removes parts which are still in view. With the static camera of the original LBA2 this isn't as noticeable. Further more, there is this classic PS1 wobble going on. So it makes me wonder if the fixed camera in the original was mostly done to hide these rendering artifacts, and not due to performance. |

I think from the making of video, what has been speculated about the outdoor camera in LBA2, is that the engine actually isn't able to draw the textures moving, so it just redraws everything at a fixed point.
Also, that bug introduced in LBA1 isn't specific to the action key, I experienced the same with the sword. Kind of annoying actually ![]()
