Please Help To Decide

All right peeps, here is the current situation:
I am making a good engine, optimizing it and blah blah blah... BUT, that were very good if there was some other programmer or 3d designer in my team. So i made a decision, i will go to BlitzBASIC. Here is what it will give me:

I can start the game right now (Instead of finishing the engine)
The programming will go faster.
That way i can make 3d models AND make the game.

Here are the bad sides of it:
Slower(But i think that with the lba graphics, which are not so detailed. Noone will notice the slow down. For eg. i don't need to make super realistic water sky and such things.)

P.S
That's only a fan project, so i don't think we need our own engine and stuff... I will continue the engine later for my own needs though

P.P.S
Don't worry about the money and stuff.. i have my own ways of getting software.

P.P.P.S
That way i will be able to make much more complicated things like controllable veichles, swimming, underwater missions and much more suggested ideas very fast.

Hum really I think it's a bad idea to switch to Blitzbasic. There are lots of fan gammes all over the world, using such building software, your project loses a lot of his interest if it's not a real challenge, a home made engine that is maybe not as evoluated as others but lets you invent new things, new possibilities, lets you customize fully the engine.

Dont join your pproject to all the little fan projects all over the woorld, create a game from E to Z I say (yep, by using already made 3D functions of OpenGL you skip a part of tyha work ).

But I dont reallyy judge the time it'd save for you, so it's up to you to see if it's worth...

I am sorry, but with the current amount of people helping the project, i just have to switch to bb3d. The development will be much faster now, and i will have time for other things in the projects. I just don't want Lba3D to be a neverending development project... Maybe, when i will have ready models and ready lba3d, i will make lba3d 2 or something. And then i will concentreate only on the engine and the gameplay.

You didn't want people to help you with LBA3D, right? I thought you said something like that.

Aww I was looking forword to seeing the lba 3D game engin in action.
Anyway if I were you I wouldn't use blitz basic. Basic dosnt give you much freedum to do what you want. I would use 3D Gamestudio. Works in C or C++ and gives you much more freedem etc . The site is http://conitec.net/a4info.htm

Dunno about Blitz, but there are editers for Dark Basic that let you view the finnished code as C++/C.

Coding your own engine is wayyy better anyway.
More flexible, more unique.

Great choice! I have OpenGL on my Gateway. I'm no good with it though. Good luck. ^_^
