Or i could try and mod Never winter nights if i can find the discs. Or I could use that truespace3D engine but It requires u to know Visual Basic

truespace3D? I dont think that supports any online features, its scripting is pretty basic.

Neverwinter Nights is a good option, dead easy, but not that flexible.
Also, to make 3D models for it, its basicaly 3DS MAX or nothing.

How do you plan to host the server side, do you have a server? if so how big is your bandwidth? and if you dont happen to have one i would be happy to host a node on my own server network. i was working on a commercial MMORPG but ended up not having the resources but i can sure do a small fan based online game hosting.

Now that im bored without a programming project i might as well just help you with this project. My army of servers and my gigantic Linux cluster are at your disposal...course my cluster is behind dial up so its no use there. But all my other servers are available.

One day I will actually be able to make this game.....
I have found a new engine "3D RAD" that can make online games (horray!!!) only problem is it costs $99 and I don't have that much.

So If anyone knows a good 3D MMORPG ENGINE please tell us.

EDIT: saying all of that just reminded me, I have an Engine (The A5 engine to be exact) that I could use, or I could get the latest A6 engine, Now I don't know how to code a Server or Client but I'm sure Alex Clay can and I hope that this engine will work well A6 Engine

I also found this Torque its supposed to be very good

Hey hobmoblin see this shareware program (i havent tried it myself im downloading now)

http://downloads.aol.com.br/arquivo....cat_subs_id=68

Its in portuguese but thats not a problem i think. the program is in english i think anyway.

(a small translation of whats in the page):
"Cosmos creator is a complete tool to create 3d games. It makes the ambience, characthers and textures for ure modelling, even the creation of scripts and the interaction of the game."

Try it out!

heh, i can program the DLLs for the network protocals. Also try DarkBASICProfessional i have it and its rele good www.thegamecreators.com i believe u can get it for 80$ or like 50$ from amazon, also dont confuse it with the old DarkBasic, make sure its the Pro Version. also we will be hosting servers with Linux, FreeBSD and eventually my own OS. and seeing as u cant use C i will program the server Apps and client DLLs myself. Ill probly use MySQL for the character saving.

Im going deep thru the program ive indicated and (as you may notice) i have insignificant 3D skills (Even with my SPACEGUITAR and the RABIBUNNY ) and ive done this in fifteen min or so after installing the prgram without reading the tutorial or anything, just by comprehension:
(it makes games very easy i think)
btw, heres the official website http://www.radishworks.com/

hmz...LBA is more like landscapes then "tunnels/rooms", and as such i think your best landscape editor will be PSP8

No seriously, if your doing tarrians, heightmaps are the best way.
DBP supports *.bsp files, but i think for LBAish games it might be easier just to have landscapes made from greyscale bitmaps and then load all the objects in manualy from *.x files.

PSP7's good enough.

Only problem with DBP is getting fully textured models into it.
The only method i have found is 3DS Max and the Pande x-file exporter.

Everything else seems to lose textureing information

If I was you as soon as you get DBP start expirementing with its built in abilities as much as you can.
For instance, its got IP functions, collision detection, and a camera "follow" option.

Many of these could speed up development, if they work good enough
(I have found a few problems with the collision detection...but that might just be my code)

Hey (im kinda newbie with psp but im not with corel programs) so i thought it is a 3d game so how can the PSP make it? U mean the textures only right?

The program im using (CosmosCreator by Radish works) make easy 3d landscapes just by selecting an image and it will transform (this may be common or obvious but is easy).

Another way to make landscapes is Bryce (which i use a lot) and Terragen another great landscape creator.
Unfortunaly Bryce doenst make trees .
