Oh yes there is. Steam's account management adds an additional layout upon the DRM. You don't lose a single game, you can lose all your games associated to that account. If your account is hacked and abused you will be flagged in VAC for ever, and might even be unable to retrieve your account at all.

If you have already downloaded the games, then its still ultimately just the DRM thats the problem.
DRM makes you reliant on someone else to get your games to work which is its principle problem, imo.
Without DRM your free to be responsible yourself.
Thats what I meant by theres nothing wrong with Steam specificaly. Any account might fuckup on anyones networks and you might lose the right to redownload.

So basically, Steam makes DRM suck harder.

...which doesn't matter since you could just use a Steam emulator or a crack.

Yes, but we shouldnt have too.
Especialy when, as fantastic as the cracking community is, they might miss less popular or obscure games. Or potentialy not work with updates to the game.

Thats why I prefer to support sites that are pro-anti-drm

Once you buy a game with Steam you can run it forever by just having a cracked "steam.dll" file. Apparently that's the only file steam-protected games are looking for. Doesn't have to be game specific.

I'm just saying, if you're fighting the good fight anyhow, you might as well invent a special anti-molerat stick instead of going around beating molerats with police baton. Metaphorically speaking. Non-metaphorically speaking, don't get upset over DRM - there are too many other things that getting upset over which could be much more productive.

Grand Theft Auto IV.

Better than expected.

:O

Probably I had my expectations really low after hearing the stuff that was missing. But it's good so far, good!!

I think I'm just 50% done with the storyline.

Supporting anti-DRM sites is preproductive, imho.
Just as supporting digital distribution generally is productive.
Moving away from flawed systems is good for everyone.
Getting around flawed systems is just good for running that game.

If one-crack fits all for steam thats handy, but that dosnt preclude them updating steam in future to need a new crack.

It's like a mediocre 1998 game with better graphics. The AI is really dumb, and everything is quite simplistic. There is like 1 voice actor for all german men, they all sound the same. So far it's sort of ok.

Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box preview
It is available for Club Nintendo members who have registered the first Professor Layton. If you don't have it registered yet, register it, then log out and in again on your local Nintendo site and you should be able to play it. It's nice, the puzzles are great but the German voiceover for Luke is crap. Whatever, you can always change the language on DS games.

Still have to finish the first Layton though, it's awesome.

Still laughing, it begins to hurt my face muscles
They thought of every possibility... for example at the part when Dan is all stressed you can make him open and close the cabinet drawer again and again and after a few times he comments on that like he's got a case of OCD. And so many great quotes... And you can use anything on everything, and everything on anything, and there's (almost) always a unique comment. And all those crazy situations. Mahn, this game is a masterpiece of a quest.

They're working on an episodic sequel I believe, so yay!

Playing Discworld, only played the demo version when I was little, it's harder than I thought.. There's no real hints or whatever on what you can do next and where you can go.

I finished Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box (NDS) last week. The puzzles were a bit easier than in Curious Village (or did I get more intelligent after playing that?), but because of that the flow of gameplay was a bit better. The bonus puzzles are really tough as well, if you're still in for a challenge. The story was alright and the minigames (hamster, camera) were fun. Definitely a worthy successor with a lot of atmosphere and feeling for detail.

God damn I love the shit out of this game, but that's because you can destroy any building with a fucking hammer if you want to. Its like a fully destructible GTA on mars.

Tales of Monkey Island - I finished Episode 1 and it's pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the episodic division but it's a game with cool style and a decent challenge.

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition - After finishing Tales of MI I felt the sudden urge to buy this game. It's super-cheap for only 4,50€. I vaguely remember playing Monkey Island back on the Amiga that I used to own, but I remember nothing about it in particular so the experience is completely new to me. I probably don't have to tell you just how good it is.

Cool! I finished Monkey island 2 somewhere last week; the only MI game I had never finished. I also purchased and started on Tales of Monkey Island, maybe halfway episode 1 now. It really is a bargain; it's like €20 for the 5 episodes and for that you also get the physical game in the mail once it's completed.

Portal Demo - quite impressive. Might pick the game up later, when I'm in need for games again. Currently I've still got a lot of Metroid Prime to catch up on.

Metroid Trillogy is indeed a superb game, well worthy of your time.
but Id still recommend playing Portal at the first opportunity you have. Its short (6 hours), but utterly perfect.
