The bit you're talking about is one of my favorite parts in gaming ever, it's made so well.

Just finished Just Cause.
It's not exactly the most polished game in the world, but still it was pretty fun.

I'd say it has two main problems: one is that once you finish the game you don't have much to do with it because the side missions it has to offer are pretty bland and repetitive, and also because the world isn't very dynamic and exciting. The people walking around you are too stupid and the cars can be a real nuisance (terrible steering in many cases and unrealistic physics).
It might be fun to walk around and do some stunts, maybe explore the island some more with a plane if you didn't see it all already, other than that there's not much to do.

On a more positive note, the campaign missions are fun and in many cases you'll have problems completing a mission if you don't master your stunts. There was a mission that I needed to kill somebody being taken in a car, and I kept chasing him and ramming his ride, that was pretty pointless with the unrealistic cars that only get real damage if you shoot a missile at them. I only managed to get past the mission after I mastered the (pretty neat) stunt of standing on the roof of the car you're riding, jumping to the roof of the other car, and then kicking out the driver and so kidnapping the guy I need to kill.

Anyway I heard they're working on a sequel now. I'll be glad to play it hoping that the developers learned from their mistakes and will make it a really classic game. It would be one if they mixed the modern GTA games' attention to detail and complexity with tropic environments and stunts.

The new Sam & Max demo. Seems entertaining, but I'll probably go and buy it sometime when all episodes get released together or something.

RE1 Director's Cut on PS1. Going through Advanced Mode as Chris just for the heck of it.

Started playing Fahrenheit, not bad although the controls and camera could be better.
It's also not very nice that whenever you interact with something it's a gamble if it'll help you or mess with your mental state.

Awesome game. Too bad the story goes all Matrix-y at the end.

Fallout, after getting rather disappointed with TES IV: Oblivion. They simply don't make good RPGs anymore.

Oblivion is an tiny bit enjoyable when using a whole heap of mods, so I can't say that it's utter crap. However, it's close to being so.

But even with those included, it doesn't come close to providing you with the sheer depth and quality found in Fallout and similar, true RPGs.

Oblivion is shallow. Role Playing Games are shit if there's no interesting plot(s) and stuff.

Gotten somewhat addicted to Black Shades again; neat little freeware FPS where you got to protect a VIP from harm.

I've been playing Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (3rd in the series) again while awaiting my pre-ordered copy of Splinter Cell: Double Agent (the sequel) which should arrive soon.

Oblivion is interesting, in that it looks so good and sucks you into the world so deeply, that it actually takes a couple of days before you realise that, the game is uninspired, badly written, overdemanding of your PC, the graphics aren't THAT good and as you people said, the gameplay is shallow (all fights are the same, all the enemies are about the same size, all spells look alike and don't really have any special effects like, forexample, most spells in Dungeons and Dragons, all the quests are boring, the voice acting is terrible).

It's just amazing that they've made a game that can actually hide all these problems, simply by looking good.

I'm having high hopes for Biowares Dragon Age. Finally returning to the Baldur's Gate concept, plus focusing on the PC, plus being inspired by A Song of Ice and Fire (FUCK YEAH!) plus all the normal stuff we know Bioware do very well (plot, writing, voice acting all put into immensely enjoyable and a living world). See Bethesda? That's what a good RPG is like.
