I downloaded MI4 recently and worked perfect for me (with wine). Only thing 'not working' is that there is some flickering of my panel motions when in full screen.

IGN said "Lock's Quest is by far one of the most original, inspired, and entertaining experiences we've had on DS this year.""

They are missing Soul Bubbles.

Well, a patch for Spore is out that seems to tweak things a lot;
http://pc.ign.com/articles/912/912173p1.html
Good to see they are responding to feedback a bit at least.
(rather then just bugpatching).

By my side: Silent Hill 2. THe ending was pretty shitty, but the game is rather satisfying.

Lock's Quest DS Demo.
This was totally awesome compared to the pile of junk they filled the Nintendo Channel demo section with. Almost an hour of gameplay, maybe even more.

Replayed Max Payne in preparation for the movie.
It was very nice, but you can see the age on it, both graphics and gameplay wise.

Still it's very fun.

Multiwinia.
It's fun, and quite hectic, too bad it doesn't have a proper single player campaign (just individual matches).

A quick lowdown.

Grand Theft Auto IV (360). Overrated. Once the novelty of the wonderfully designed city wears off, you come to the realisation that the missions themselves just aren't much fun. And there's only so many times you can go on a rampage and run from the police befor ethat gets boring.

Braid (360). Probably the best game of the year. Working out the solution for some of the trickier puzzle pieces gives a really great feeling of satisfaction that I rarely get from games anymore. The whole game is so wonderfully designed and while short, kept me fully engaged and never bored.

Space Invaders Extreme (NDS). Jesus Christ, best NDS game of the year and it's not even close. If you take the original Space Invaders, combine it with Rez, an throw in some LSD and this is what comes out. It's a wonderfully addictive and challenging shooter that is relentlessly entertaining. Sadly, this wonderful game was ignored the gaming public.

The World Ends With You (NDS). I don't know why I got this. It's really bad. I've pretty much started to hate JRPG's recently, and this did nothing to change my opinion. Endless reams of crap dialogue, crap battle system requiring little skill other than grinding yourself silly. Then again, some people get off on this sort of thing.

Killer7 (GCN). Now this is bloody ace. It's nice when you see developers try new ideas, and completely disheartening when their efforts get completely ignored (Okami). Once you get used to the 'different' controls, this is an excellent new take on what is essentially an on-rails shooter. Plus, unusually for a video game, it has a story that is actually worth a damn. This is the sort of thing developers should be trying to make for the Wii.

Beyond Good and Evil (PS2). This is nice. I'm not too far into it, but enjoying it a lot. For some reason it reminds me of Little Big Adventure in places, and I'm not sure why. But that's a good thing.

Beyond Good and Evil is definitely similar to LBA.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) - *yawn*, the replay value is close to hit zero. Did I really get the Wii for this? Luckily there are more intriguing games as well.

Zelda Phantom Hourglass (DS) - Still fantastic. It uses all of the DS's potential fully. It's hard to criticise anything here, compared to Wind Waker or Twilight Princess.

New Super Mario Bros.
(DS) - Short but fine. I'm through but I have a hard time collecting all the Star Coins, nice additional challenge.

Super Mario 64 DS - None, and I mean none of the controls work for me. I keep falling into the abyss because I can't control my character properly with either the D-Pad or the Touch Screen. Makes it hard to enjoy the game which is otherwise good. I think.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (SNES) - I got it with my second-hand SNES, and I'm pretty surprised about the graphics compared to what you see in Super Mario World or Super Mario All-Stars without the SuperFX-chip. Overall a nice game, was revolutionary for a platformer. And I suck at it.

UT2004 I've come back to this game time and time again. The multiplayer makes the game a good choice when I want to play something for 20 minutes and before doing something else. VehicleCTF is quite fun.

That's my feeling about all 3D GTA games...
I do find them fun from time to time, but that feeling goes away after a few hours of gameplay.

I always think GTA is a great engine waiting for more gameplay

Its a formular that normaly improves other games when applied too. (for instance, the GTA-like "Spiderman2" game, and "Harry Potter5" both were vastly better then the other games in their lisences).
Sadly, its rarely built upon. Sandbox is fun, but you need stuff to do!

Theres actualy a Xbox360 version of that in development, with likeky to have even more LSD chucked into it.
(Jeff Minter, the guy who did the Xbox's music visualiser...and, in fact, pretty much invented visualisers.....is working on the effects).

Incidently, have you played Space Giraffe? I've never had a long enough go to judge it, but it also uses the over-the-top effects combined with a basic oldschool gameplay.

Animal/Human hybred creatures, french design, oppressive govement, freeform exploration.....could all factor in

Probably because its the first RPG with an actual original setting Squareenix have done in, like, decades

Aside from that cool but aperently short horror they did recently.

My only real critism was the heart pieces were boring to get. No sub-heart pieces, and you were pretty much just given or bought all of them, rather then hunting them down/solving puzzles.
Oh, and that bow and arrow game...impossible...poor playtesting there.

Still, your right, it is an excelent excelent game overall. Loved the use of the rope and its the first Zelda where the Bombshu's are usefull

The heart pieces somehow got replaced by those drops for the fairies. There are a lot of them to find, but they're not exactly worth the same.
The bow and arrow game is impossible indeed. You need to be absolutely perfect, right?
