Lba Ds

Hey guys I recently had an idea.3 weeks ago I got a flashcard for the Nintendo DS.It's like an original DS cathridge but it has a slot for a micro sd in it.You can store files in it and use them in the DS.I searched and found many programs for DS,like?Emulators for SNES,Gameboy,Megadrive,aplications and ports like Flashback DS,Quake DS,Doom,so why not create a port of LBA in the DS.The only problem is the low memory(only 4 mbs),but the cpu is 66 mhz and I think it would be cool.I know it wouldn't be easy but if we try maybe we can make something.So what do you think?

Actualy, this has been thought of to some extent;

http://forum.gbadev.org/viewtopic.ph...ght=relentless

Sadly, it isnt easy enough to do at the moment.

(Personaly, I got an old GBAMP + 4GB compact flash card, set up with Moonshell and excelent DSOrganise software....its stunning what you can do on the DS for so little money)

Yeah but we could use the Twin Engine to make a tech demo and see how it works on the DS.This machine can do many stuff,they even made a programming library for it named Libfat!I think we can do it.

I think Libfat is more like a driver too allow DS programers to read/write from FAT devices. (eg, Compact Flash, SD cards ect).

Most DS programs are done in C.
There is also more simply langerage thingy someone ported called Lula I think, which is more like a scripting thing and not powerfull enough for LBA.

LBA would have to be done in C, using the Fat drivers.
The problem is its such a lot of work and I'm not sure who here would be skilled and equiped too help. I dont have enough expirencing programing on the DS, and I frankly dont have the time anyway (between my freelance and my RMP project).

that would be great if we could ge lba on the ds. It would be better if it was officily released for the ds, then they could make use of the touch screen-maybe for the inventory?

if only LBA1 was made for SNES as originally planned, I could be playing it right now...

well probably not right now since the Super FX Chip isn't emulated perfectly yet

htis not released on other platforms basically because the company is split up - go read about why LBA3 doesn't exist.

i have a problem with spelling and i do not spell check which i probably should do. I meant "after" not "fafter" and i meant it should have been released on other platforms when it was still out and before the company split up. But i guess they did do it for ps1 though. But as said if only it was released on the snes as planned....

so why all the members here? even over a decade after its release? And look on the speedrun videos on youtube all the comments are by people saying how it was suxch a good game and they had loads of happy memories playing it...? lol. The reason we can still play it today is because of the effort some people have put in making patches to run on xp. If it isnt a good game and popular surly they would be not patches and all these other downloads. I dont mean to have a go btw i just thaught it was a popular game. I was 4 when it came out and all my friends had it and enjoyed it.

Well, LBA1 did come out on the PS1 as well. (making GP2X and PSP emulations the easiest to do). The DS could handel both LBA's, of course, but its not powerfull enough to emulate them.
==
As for popularity, LBA1 did reasonably well indeed.
However, why the community is still here is because;

a) LBA1 created such a whooping impact on those that played it.
b) We are a friendly, laid back community. El has done a very good job off "light" moderation and establishing the mood of this forum (Many forums can end up feeling like a Nazi state)
c) Adventure game fans have to stick together

Yeah, most of the forums on the net are very Nazi. El is seriously one of the best admins on the net.
Hooray to El

And I'm ashamed to say that when I was a moderator here I didn't really help the good mood. (hopefully I grew up since then...)

ah didn't see this thread.. I mentioned this somewhere else..

I got a M3 DS Simply, but I can't figure out why the touch pad doesn't work for half the homebrew applications. - I'm wondering if I used the right patch.. but I can't find much help. I keep getting given source codes.. which doesn't help me.

I understood your spelling, just not the sentence in general - sorry if I came out a bit mean.

The only chances of LBA on DS sadly is,
- Such low framerate emulated, just as proof of concept.
- The whole engine ported/rewritten and optimised. Sadly we don't have the real source.

Everythings possible for old great games though, even the original Theme Park is now on DS (properly done by EA, not homebrew).

A thing though, once we're all over about it being on the DS it's not like you'll play it more than 5 times on the handheld

Hey nice picture. Did you make it? Thats the sort of thin they should be odn. Look at the touch screen-exactly how i would have i (maybe if you click on separte thins they would get bigger because the map and inventory looks rarther small). Would be excellent if lba2 were released on the DS. Pitty i never will be though
