LOTR the movie

Have any of you seen the movie LOTR yet?
I saw it Friday , and it is the best movie I have ever seen.
The story mostly follows the first book , the special effects are fantastic , so are the actors and the whole scenery.
Well done.
I saw a LOTR special on danish TV , a journalist /filmcritic said that after he had seen LOTR a movie like Titanic reminded him of two people on a waterbike! crossing a small lake.
If you have not seen it then go see it you won´t regret it.
If you have not read the books , it doesn´t matter.
Happy new year.
Fromsej.

I haven't seen the movie yet, because I first want to read the books. Everybody suggests me that

Happy new year to you too, fromsej.

Yep. I've seen it. It's a really good movie, but I've seen a few that are better than it. I'm currently reading the book.

Well it gave me shivers at first when I saw it. But too bad they ruined some scenes (like cut out frodo singing on the tables), making Gandalf a weakling and cutting out the reforgery of Narsil to Anduril.

Gandalf was suposed to be a little bit more "Hard" and even more arrogant. Like when he was on caradhas (saruman had nothing to do with it, the old dark king Morgoth had made these mountains which still posesses evil forces) he wrote his name with great lights in the air, to chalenge his opponents.

And he would never allow a troll fighting frodo and the gang. In the book an orc just came trough very rapidly and hurted frodo. But now it makes Gandalf look like a weakling.

But the movie was great, great landscapes. And mordor was awesome.

Saw it day of release
(Wednesday)
Because we went before 5 o'clock it was empty. But when we got out there was a queue of about 100 people
--
To sum my views of the film:
A nice fairly-faith full conversion of the book,
Great SFX (mainly the Hobits size impressed me the most~thought it would look to odd, but it worked fine),
I thought the pace of the movie was a bit inconsistent,
Amazing battle scenes.
Frodo look's like a Irish comedian that's on "The Stand Up Show"
The camera in LotR seemed to be obsessed with feet
---
ps, Where does Gandalf buy his Fireworks ?
I want some

I read the books 3 or 4 years ago, after I read the Hobbit.
My mom just bought me them (I got them from the library back then),
so now I started them again...

The film is just sohoooo good !

I really enjoyed it, and most of the things were more of less as in my imagination, really cool. I will go again, I think thursday. It's really fun to look for things in the movie that aren't corresponding with the book

But okay, for everyone who didn't go yet: GO!!

On the other hand, Gandalf was never supposed to be quite omnipotent, especially compared to Saruman. I agree his little weaknesses were much more subtle in the books than in the film, but I don't think they could have made them much subtler in the film.

And you should all go and get the soundtrack immediately. It's awesome. Although it does have Enya's name on the front, and you have to go through the intense embarrassment of buying it in front of everyone.

She rocks on the LotR soundtrack - a lot. But anything else of hers, she sounds wonderful for the first five minutes and then a bit repetitive thereafter. Just me. It's not that I don't like New Age music either, it's just her.

Yes, I have to agree the movie was awesome, and the soundtrack is very high on my to-buy cd list. I wouldn't let not having read the book stop you from seeing the movie: I haven't read it, and really enjoyed not knowing what was going to happen next --it was all a fresh, new story.

One question though: (spoiler) what does Gandalf say just before he falls? I couldn't make it out in the movie.

LOTR, still haven't seen it yet the problem with living in Saudi.

Enya? Would it be odd if I saw that name in the artists section of the lba soundtrack?

Same here, although the titles of each song are correct.

I found a copy of the Harry Potter movie on VCD here for real cheap, still didn't buy it

LotR?

Beautifull!

I was really afraid they would have fucked it up and such, but I was incredeble impressed by the movie
The music is superb, I'm searching for it aswell
SFX are great too

And I have a new candidate for "Best action scene of all Times": Moria, I hope I won't need to explain that too those who saw it

To bad they throwed Tom Bambodil out of story

Yes Atre I miss Tom Bombadil too.
And Moria was indeed fantastic , but I can´t wait to see Gondor and Fangorn.

No Atre , they did mention it.
In the beginning of the movie , you see Galadriel , Elrond and an unknown man ( Cirdan the shipsbuilder ) , standing with the three rings on their hands.
Gandalf gets the ring of fire ( Narya ) , when the third age begins.
If you haven´t noticed it is the voice of Galadriel telling the story about ancient times , and the first battle against Sauron.
Of course there are many things from the book which are missing in the movie , and some parts being chanced , but these things don´t spoil the movie at all.
Imagine they have put it all in , each movie would last somewhere about 5-6 hours!
When this movie comes out on DVD I simply have to buy a DVDplayer with surroundsound.
To those of you who haven´t seen it , GO SEE IT ,I command you, and if you haven´t read the books then read them afterwards.

By the time the trilogy comes out on DVD, I'll probably buy a DVD recorder (don't see the point in getting a player).
