Ferry Movie

A Clockwork Orange for the first time, but I did not have tape enough for the ending, so spoil it for me!

Ok I suppose, I liked the atmosphere, but something was wrong in the way it was done in my opinion, can't put my finger on it. I'd give it 3.5/5.

Mulholland Drive
Started strange, became interesting, and then from that strange club it got all weird. If anyone could shed light on it, I could give it more than 2/5.

The Boondock Saints
Pretty nice, some really amusing parts. 4/5.

Stigmata
Ok I suppose, nothing special, or maybe it was because I was extremely tired when watching it. 3/5.

SolidFlam -- talk with CS2x, he knows some websites that can clear it up (Mulholland Drive).

Some movies I saw recently...

Magnolia -- second time I saw it, still love it great movie. Very long (>3 hours) and on the whole not much happens, yet I wasn't bored while watching, not even the 2nd time. Some very strong emotional scenes, and very convincing acting.

Hana-bi -- Totally un-hollywood style movie from perhaps the most famous director/actor from Japan: Takeshi Kitano. Pretty violent movie (as ever) with interesting characters and some nice ideas. I like the influence of paintings in this movie.

Brother -- another Kitano movie. This movie is a pretty nice mix of yakuza, gangsta and mafiosi film in one. Easier watching than Hana-bi.

Spider-Man 2 -- I liked SP1, and I thought this was a good sequel. Not much more than that, though.

Dawn of the Dead (the new one) -- Nice reminded me of Resident Evil (the movie) and Eight Freaked Legs (in which they also baricade themselves in a shopping mall).

Van Helsing -- Wow, same style but even worse than League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Not much more than an average action movie with a way too high budget (it's had - just looked it up - 170% the budget of LotR-FotR!! and staying in the same class, more than 200% of the budget for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Special effects do not make a good movie I guess it's profitable though.).

bah, Van Heilsing is wayyy better then League of Extraordinary Gentlemen because it never pretended to be anything but an imaginative/silly action movie.
Plus, imo, Van Heilsing had a great soundtrack.

Personaly i thought it was quite clever how they blured so many old myths together.
Sure, its got loads of special effects...but most of the ideas for them were fresh.

Allthough, that said...i could kill them for the last 5 seconds.
Corniest thing EVER.
If they just cut it a few seconds earlier.

bah, go seen Shuan of the Dead.
That has PROPER Zombies
Not this crappy "new" Zombies DotD and 28 days-later has.
(actualy the creators of SotD are pretty clearly dissing 28 days later...you can tell at the end of the movie )

Zombies are slow and stupid, and still deadly.
Thats what makes them Zombies.

Just a thing.

LXG is an adaptation of Alan Moore's graphic novel (comics) of the same name, and should be judged as such.

LXG, the graphic novel, is one of Moore's greatest works, and has extremely high quality. Moore is a bloody genious. I don't think anyone that read any of his works will disagree.

Unhappily, Hollywood screwed up. The adaptation was a disaster. But LXG doesn't PRETEND to be something, it IS something. It was just badly executed.

Anyhow, I liked Van Helsing. Maybe just because when I watched it I was in the mood for mindless action, but still. It does have many problems, like the over use of effects and the many corny/cheesy moments.

Dude, I think he meant that the movie pretended to be something, not the comics.
Just like I thought the 8 pages Hellboy I've read were ten times more exciting than the entire freakin movie.

I think he was refering to the story of the movie, which is also the story of the comics. So I thought my sentence would apply to it aswell.

Talles: i cant tell, you need to watch to have the surprise. Lets say its a bit like a theater play.. but, for me atleast, i meant more than that

Wacko: go for it! the story is a bit dense, not much an action movie.

I hated dogville, I was expecting something with originality and even though the looks of it was original, the story was ripped from some medicrio soap.

I want my 3 hours back >_o

Ooh I watched Lion King 3 yesterday
Much better than LK 2, but couldn't come close to the quality of the original (nostalgia).
The different perspective on the original story is really funny and it brings up nostalgic feelings from The Lion King. Man I loved that film

And I watched I robot at the cinema last week, I despize Will Smith, but the movie itself was pretty amusing. Not impressive, but I expected worse

Saw 'I, Robot' today, a pretty nice film. Certainly better than having to watch through 'Spiderman 2' which I did with some friends a few days ago. The film definitely does not improve with a second viewing, although I did get a chance for some quick naps during the "romantic" scenes between Peter and Mary-Jane.

The Virgin Suicides
A movie by Sofia Coppola about 5 sisters that are over-sheltered by their parents, and a group of friend that observe them. The girls one after another commit suicide.
I personally didn't feel there's much "flesh" in this movie, but the soundtrack is nice. 2.5/5

The Girl Next Door
The story of a guy that's about to graduate high school, and one day an ex-pornstar moves to live next to him. He starts seeing her and such.
Doesn't sound very classy, but it has its charm, kept me in, and had a few good jokes, so I give it 4/5.

While on holiday, I saw some films on the aeroplane...

Spider-Man 2
For once, a sequel that is actually better than the preceeding film! Ok, I really disliked the first Spider-Man film, as the amount of clichés really irritated me. This was a vast improvement, showing the negative side to Peter Parkers life, and that being a superhero doesn't carry the glamour that one would expect. It does a good job of showing Peter Parkers struggle to come to terms with who he is, and Doc Ock is a decent villain. The love story between Peter and MJ needed improvement though. It went back and forth so often, and had no real focus. 7/10

Big Fish
Charming, if flawed, tale about a man who lived an extraordinary life. The story had some real charm in places, but at times, seemed to keep losing momentum. Still, pleasant, if ultimatly forgettable stuff. 7/10

Along Came Polly
Jesus fucking Christ, this sucked. If you've ever seen a romantic comedy (rom-com) before, you'll know the gist. Girl and guy meet, start to fall in love, complication happens, she threatens to leave, at the last moment he convinces her to stay, and they all live happily ever after. It's all been done before. And it's been done much better than this. Aside from a few slapstick scenes involving a blind ferret, the laughs (if any), were few and far between. 3/10

Mean Girls
I expected this to be another crap teen flick. I was pleasantly suprised. This movies explores the different group in an American high school, and the conflicts and hierarchy involved, through the eyes of Lindsey Lohan's charecter, who has lived all of her life in Africa, and is seen as a blank canvas at the start of the film. Despite a shitty ending, there's a lot of meat on the bones, and doesn't involve a flurry of crap sexual jokes/innuendoes like most films of it's ilk. Not bad at all. 7/10
