![]() ![]() At first I thought that guy's mother had dementia, but later on it wasn't clear to me there was a metaphor for dementia. I mean at some points it felt like the writers had dementia but... ok I'll stop ![]() What was all that about his grandfather and aunts anyway?! Maybe this movie is such a good metaphor I didn't even understand it ![]()

ok, now you got me unsure of the details, but at the time I thought it was dementia brought on/accelerated by the magic she had to use. (ie, she was so desperate as to literally put part of her self into it).
I don't think it was supposed to be a metaphor. At least not in terms of "this represents this". I think it was just more direct "this is this", even if it isnt explictly stated. - Anyway...movies....hmm.... Dont think Ive seen another one recently :P

Just a tad late for this....
The Martian - Pretty good. Not a complex or clever plot, but it has wit and no one acts stupid. Very realistic with clearly a lot of god research. Sure, Mars doesn't have storms that bad, and they sure as hell fudged a lot of speeds. But everything else seemed good. Its also one of those films that makes me go "come on humanity! stop wasting your money and get on with this!"

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - Now theres a movie not remotely ashamed of itself. Neon saturated both visually and metaphorically. Apologizing for nothing.

Wonder Woman - Great fight choreography. Let down by really crappy end villain.
Baby Driver - Pretty great. Maybe a few scenes too long, but essentially Eager Wright putting his spin on another genre.

Beauty and the Beast Thought Emma did a great job as Belle. I actually prefer this version to the Disney tbh.
Suicide Squad Very cool movie! Love Harley Quin. Hope they do a 2nd one ![]() |

Thanks for your thoughts. Heard mixed things about SS. Harley Quins probably my favorite DC character since Batman the Animated series, but they seemed to change her a lot.
-- Spider-man:Homecoming - A lot seem to be calling it the best spider-man film, and I think I agree. Certainly feels closest to the comics. pros; + No time wasted on origin story. + Good pacing. The balance of homour/action, as well as time spent on villian/peter/relationships etc. + Peter is allowed to make mistakes. Hes learning - not a super action hero. + Nice character development between Peter and Stark. cons; - Probably a little weird for people that haven't seen a few of the other Marvel films. Things are casually mentioned without explanation so the film isnt so stanadlone. For people that have seen them its no issue. (or at least Civil War and maybe Avengers1) - Bezire/pointless name changes of some secondary comic characters.

The Red Turtle Great film if you want to completely waste 2 hours or need help sleeping. 3/10
Warcraft Good use of CGI. Engaging plot. Great character development. Nice twists. Sad that it won't be getting a sequel. 7.5/10 The Wailing Korean horror film with religious undertones. Nice build up and twists along the way. Although a bit confusing at the end, much like a lot of films in the genre. 7/10 Alien:Covenant Didn't think it was as bad as what the critics reported it to be. Plot was very similar to Prometheus and unnecessarily long towards the end. 6.5/10 Pirates of the Carribbean 5 - Scraping the bottom of the barrel. New characters are a parody of the original duo. Needs a rest. 2/10 |

Thanks, might check out Warcraft at some point
-- Star Wars: Rogue One - Finally saw this. Quite disappointing to be honest as I heard it was really good. Its ok. I thought it was supposed to be more a espionage thriller/spy thing, but its just more "star wars light".
