Depends how long it is.
Id happy pay full price for a 2d platform game if it had, say, 97 quality levels.

Pikmin 2 for Wii - The Wii Remote is definitely a much better way to control the game. It basically fixes all the flaws of the GameCube Pikmin 1 which I still haven't completed. Pretty good.

Trine - Nice feel to the game. Can't stop but thinking it's some kind of project by students in their last year. Maybe it is, I don't know.
The storyline seems a bit far fetched and unnecessarily complex. Also I remember this gameplay concept from The Lost Vikings, so it's not that innovative.

Overall I like playing it, just because of the fairytale-ish feel and the nice and detailed environments.

Got a new PC, well above specs, and Overlord 2 just kept fucking up.
Tried Legendary as well, seemed good for a few minutes then kept bluescreening at the same bits.
Also a few other games as well, most caused some headaches or other.
CellFactor worked, but aside from showing of the physics of the gpu chipset a bit, as nothing special.
Dunno what was causing so many problems, maybe the GPU drivers (which I kept changing), or maybe it was XP64 (which they should be fine with). The problems seemed all unrelated though.

Hell, even going back to an old game like Sacred wasnt without problems; Apperently that game cant host network games if you are running it on a dual core >_< (works if you disable your other cores)

For fucks sake, is this what the pc markets become? Even with brand new state-of-the-art (ish) PCs it still gives you hell.

Its no wonder console games sale more, PC games just arnt worth the effort*

*Great little indy games like Knytt Stories being the wonderfull exception.

You're running Windows XP 64?! Why... that was an experimental version, it mostly results in issues.

I meant Windows XP x64 Profesional edition, which is actualy a fully released software supported by service packs etc. It was shipped with some laptops and PCs before Vista.
(the non profesional version was discontinued)

Basicaly, I want 4GB(+) of ram and the speed benefits of running 64 bit apps.

Its main problems are;
a) Cant run any 16 bit apps/installers
b) Cant support 32 bit explore extentions.
c) Drivers have to be 64bit compatible.

a/b) dont bother me. Any extensions I use are already 64 bit compatible. (mostly, say, 7zip).
c) might be an issue, but the nVidia drivers do specificaly say WindowsXP64 on the download page.

I'd really advise Vista 64bit (or maybe wait it in for Windows 7 to be final). My brother played (and completed) Overlord 2, no problems, and he's running Windows 7 64bit release candidate.

I'm not touching Vista with a very long barge poll
Might goto Windows7 once its more mature though.

Besides, I got a feeling it might be the gpu/driver rather then xp64 itself.
The errors seem rather gpu-ish in flavour. (nv4_disp.dll errors etc)

Color Cross - Made by Little Worlds (which is a studio composed of some ex-LBA staff), this is a lovely little picross style colour game.
My review of the PC Demo of color cross is here, but I'll probably buy the DS one as it would make a good game for journeys. (and its much cheaper)

After years of having only the demo, I finally got my hands on a copy of Mashed, and I've been playing it A LOT with a few friends recently. This has to be one of the best party games ever.

Wii Sports Resort...

It's quite good - and nicely presented. I think it'll be fun to play with non-gamers on holiday or whatever. However, even though I can see it's designed to be mega accessible and streamlined (to the point that it lacks certain features or extras I'd really want to see in there), I'm not sure how non-gamers will deal with the Wii motion plus issues I seem to be having. It's okay in most games, but when it spazzes out it is pretty infuriating. Also, I only think 3 or 4 of the minigames are really worth playing for any length of time, but never mind.

Does it have training modes?
Because I played them a lot more then anything else in the first game.
(Aside from Baseball, it was the only thing I found challenging)

Red Alert 3 - Pretty darn fun.

Wii Sports Resort has a lot less training modes than the original Wii Sports. You're lucky if you have one training mode per sport. The water sports like canoeing or jetski let you drive around freely, but that's just testing the controls and not a challenge like the original training modes.

Other than that, the game is pretty good. Some sports are complete rubbish, but it's overall a nice package.

hmz.
I wasnt going to get it, but now Red Steal 2 has been pushed back to next year, I'm tempted. Pity about the training modes though.
Not much else out till Metroid Trilogy and Cursed Mountain for me.

Well, Wii Sports Resort has an achievement system, where you can collect 6 "stamps" per sport. They are sometimes really hard to get and should create long-term motivation. There's tons of those.

Playing Oblivion (under Ubuntu, of course).

Absolutely no problems once the game is patched to 1.24 something. Before I did that bold move I would get memory leaks (sudden framerate drops to like 5), random crashes, and couldn't get into the imperial city.

Now it's all perfect

Funny thing is, that while working with wine I'm also learning about regedit more then I ever did on windows...

Well it's better then morrowind, I haven't encounterred two people with the same face so far... and the story seems more well put and kinda "epic". Fighting too is a lot nicer, and the gfx are pretty nice.
