Finished the GDI campaign in C&C3. Now working on NOD. 2 more mission and I finished that aswell. Then I'll start on the Scrin (alien) campaign. Great game. Go play it if you're just waiting for SC2 right now.

I used to play some pen and paper D&D with friends like once every other week, but I overall didn't really like it. Some evenings were quite nice, others were boring.

Yeah, as someone accustomed to computer RPGs, I found pen-and-paper D&Ds too slow for my taste.

Been playing Far Cry lately, since I finished HL2. I have to say that I was somewhat surprised to discover that there are only 2 or 3 levels before you start fighting the monsters, which bugs me, since I'm not a fan of horror-based games. Also, the graphics just don't seem as good as they were when the game first came out.

My god, that things uglier than a chav! :O now I'm glad they wear hoodies here

What's 'highschool' translated into England terms? I never really got this one all the american 'high school' things they look older than I am now, and I'm in college.

Well on tv they look older because the actors are 20+ and the character they do are 18-

Highschool: Age 13-18 (grade 7-12)

we dont have a 12th 'grade'(year?) of school

Primary school (R*, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), can be split up into infant and junior school, or something like that.
Secondary-school (7, 8, 9, 10, 11)
At college here are usually aged 16 when start (and we have 1-2 years of college, sometimes people take a 3rd year for some reasons)

*R is like kindergarden, no work. It's pretty much optional to the parents

I finished the game just now. It was actually easier than I expected. Took me only 3 days to finish. I even finished it on normal mode.

Minor correction (regarding Israel, of course):
In most cities, school is divided to three - elementary (grades 1-6), junior high (grades 7-9) and high school (grades 7-12). Some schools are 6-year schools, i.e. junior high + high school.
In a few cities, elementary school is grades 1-8, and high school is grades 9-12 (no junior high).

For the heck of it, that's it in Germany:
grade 1-4 : elementary school

grade 5-9 : general school
OR grade 5-10 : "realschule"
OR grade 5-13 : "gymnasium" <-'tis me

I can't believe that Germany is a democracy.

What do you mean? The school system that kobold described seems like its not only democratic, but also fairly liberal.

What?
You need good (marks/grades/whatever the word for those rankings is in your English ) to get onto the higher school types.

I don't mean it's a undemocratic system, I'm saying it sounds so unfair that I can't believe people ain't voting away that system.

It's not liberal, it's conservative.

Grades is an acceptable system, but at age 9, I think it will measure maturity too much. Which really isn't the qualities grades should give.

@Kobold: By 'liberal' I don't mean that it seems easy, but rather that it seems like it offers people a good amount of choice. Perhaps libertarian is the better word.

@LWO: I'm not sure why you're saying that it sounds unfair

English is taking over the world . I couldn't imagine if German was required for me to continue education.

edit--
I think I'm reading what you said wrong

Do we jail children at age 9 if they do something stupid?

No. That's because they are not ready for such heavy decisions by the government, I believe the same logic applies to judging them after their grades.

Where's morshem or Darkflame? It'd be better to split this.

I don't usually look at this thread, because it's mostly quite boring . And I won't bother reading it just for that, so I'll leave it to Darkf.

On a rare on-topic note though, I downloaded and played today Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, which is quite nice. Not too different from Pharaoh/Zeus/Caesar though.

Simon ~ Fun game, much like the discworld games. Playing with any help, think Im near the end.

Advanced Wars ~ rocks, as always. Playing over the hard campagn again. Also I came up with some great tactics for money servival. (You really DO only need one piperunner on that mission ).
