Question Other games made by Frederick Raynal

In the first place: I've heard that the game from 1988 named 'Popcorn' was the first computer game made by Fred. Is that really true ?

When 'Time Commando' was released, I didn't know about it and I haven't bought it...but when I first found out about it and saw some screenshots I had a really terrible wish to play it. It's there at least a demo or a preview version of 'Time Commando'?

Time Commando is an utter disgrace to the PC. Console owners put up with that kind of crap but PC owners don't have to. Stay away from it at all costs.

Didn't Frédérick Raynal create the original - and best - Alone in the Dark? This was the game that Resident Evil COPIED! If you play Res Evil it is literally a complete copy of AITD with more modern graphics!

I hate it so much... now people have the nerve to say the new AITD game copies Res Evil! AITD was the fucking original!

(ahem. sorry. )

Question

I know, I know, I have AITD and I like it very much (it's so sinister) and I also know that Resident Evil copied AITD, but I didn't understand why you consider 'Time Commando' so bad.

I mean...I don't know I haven't played Time Commando but it can't be that bad...

It's a mindless shoot/beat-em-up with 3D sprites on pre-rendered backgrounds... the background scrolls as you move forwards and you're not allowed to go back and scroll it the other way! Although it's 3D you can only go forward/back along the line that they have set. And so basically it's boooorrrrrriiiiinnnnnnggggg. This is how games used to play.

popcorn was the first game fred made for the PC.. he may other games for other systems.
Fred did create the original AITD, but he did not write the story of AITD, it's based on book (it's not a game version of the book)

It's not based on a book, but on an author - H.P. Lovecraft. He was a horror writer who wrote short stories. His stories unfold in the same way as in AITD, a character investigates something and uncovers the horrific story along the way.

I know, I've read 'em. All his books were only horrific because of the occultism in them and the descriptions of occult things. Very little actually happens in any of them.
