the answer is simple, it was removed for copyright reasons as the sound track has been released on itunes.

please support the official release

I just checked the soundtrack available on iTunes. It seems like they split the files in many songs, and some songs (like Honey Bee) are missing the intro, while the others fade out in the end, when another part of the song would start...

I really liked the official release, just think they should have also added the complete versions of the songs with it...

Edit: Nevermind, these are the corrects songs, what I found was the wrong listing.... This is the right one: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/li...t./id590953897

Probably not... Let's just support Phil, maybe this can help he, Fred and Didier to make the long waited remake...

I thought Frédérick Raynal has said that he doesn't mind it if people distribute the ld LBA games for free as long as people will buy LBA 3.

That was probably at a time when it wasn't sold at all.

I tend to agree here, I think Fred's quote came prior to the games being commercially available through GoG and referred to the period when the game was basically abandonware.

That being said, don't the LBA discs play the soundtracks if you insert them into a media player? Even if you had an .ISO, I'd think you could listen to the tracks?

That's right, IIRC, there's a whole folder in the original LBA disk that has all the songs. Just copy them from there is you have it

£4.15 to support the artist, rather than rip it off a disk. Yes i'd call that cheap.

As opposed to the $30-$40 paid to the artist and devs when the game was new?

I don't think it was ever their intention for people to be capable of ripping off from the disk

seriously guys, consider the itunes thing as a donate button... That's what it actually is. Just like the GOG versions of the game. Most of us already had both games and still bought the game. If you feel like donating something to the devs, do it, otherwise don't... simple as that

Then why do the discs act as audio CD's when placed in a CD player or media player?

I don't recall other PC games having this feature.

Because that was a cheap way they could prevent taking copies of the disc. It was partitioned in two parts: a audio disk one and a file disk one, if you tried copying then all you would have is the file disk, and the audio would be missing, rendering the game unplayable.
That's why when I booted LBA2 on my phone I had to use both .CUE and .ISO images, and not just the .ISO...

Also, is a extra for listening to Phil's soundtrack on a music player :P

Well, the soundtrack was released under Philippe's name, plus, some copyright removal pages I found are under his name...

LBA 1:

All long music tracks of the game are stored as CD tracks on the CD.
On Linux, go to the GOG folder of LBA 1, install bchunk and type:
Code:
$ bchunk -w LBA.GOG LBA.DAT audio
This will create audio files audio02.wav to audio10.wav featuring all CD-quality tracks of the game. If you want to do this from Windows, find some program that can extract audio from BIN/CUE files (maybe this one but I didn't test it). Select LBA.DAT as the CUE file and LBA.GOG as the BIN file.

(Note: the .DAT file shipping with the GOG version is slightly broken, some music files are strangely cut off. Use an alternate one as described here.)

The shorter tracks are stored in MIDI_MI.HQR. Extract them using your favourite HQR manager. The resulting files are XMI.

LBA 2:

Run Setup.exe in Dosbox (simply manipulate GOG's startup script for LBA2) and select to copy all music files to disc. This will give you all music tracks of the game except for the main theme in a special /MUSIC folder in your LBA 2 directory.

The main theme is available in your LBA 2 GOG folder under the name LBA2.OGG.

How to launch Setup.exe:

Go to C:\Program FIles (x86)\GOG.com\Little Big Adventure\
Open dosboxLBA2.conf with a text editor (e.g. Notepad)
Go to the very bottom of the file
change the following lines:
Quote:
lba2.EXE
exit
to
Quote:
#lba2.EXE
setup.exe
exit
Then start LBA 2 via your shortcut. The setup program will open.

Choose your language

Select game options

Name:	Setup2.png

Select Copy music to disc

Name:	Setup3.png
Views:	87
Size:	17.6 KB

Select ok and then quit.

Go back to dosboxLBA2.conf and restore the original "lba2.exe" in place of "setup.exe":
Quote:
lba2.EXE
exit
You'll find the .WAV files in C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Little Big Adventure 2\MUSIC.

For the main theme, just open LBA2.OGG in your LBA folder with any software that supports OGG playback, e.g. Firefox or VLC Media Player.

We dont know the % that Gog takes, but given that its just GoG and the LBA creatures involved here (no other middle men) it should be most of it.

Typically digital distro hosts take about 30%.
