I forgot that piece of music!
Wow it needs refreshing. It's way too loudly played, I should let the orchestra play it more subtle. But good template to work on I guess

Good point. I seem to be progressing rapidly lately, i need to focuss more on the dynamic part. Vachey himself pointed it out too, I tend to play most things rather loudly

Hehe :] right now I doing something in this direction. But it's more complicated than it may look. Mostly because I plan to somehow integrate acquiring of special items (ID card and things like that) with game interface. Mostly because I want to merge this two spaces: gui and game. How this idea will work we will see.

Pretty nice :] I could split my development on two part :

Part 1. I had only stereo rendering (image for left and for right eye) and after seeing results I was really surprised that this camera wasn't feel weird. I showed it to friend and he thought similar but something was missing.

Part 2. I attached movement of head and it give feeling like you look on some game board or simply like you fly in sky (You can look around freely).

So I think that this experiment finished with success.

Oh, that !! Lol, not really a very new concept, the Virtual Boy from Nintendo for example, or Sony used to make things like that, used the same way as computer screens (only they were not 3D). They all failed, I'm really curious how this one will turn out to be.

So Angelus, how did you get to make that scene for Oculus ?

Watch Pewdiepie's last video... he is playing using the Oculus Rift.
the "Beta" for It was already launched I'd guess, knowing that many people are using it already.

It was pretty easy :] I had occasion to borrow Developer Kit of Oculus Rift (I don't own my own right now) so I used It. From begin I thought about using it in L.B.A. because this gave me opportunity to check how it would behave in some other view than first person view that most people experiment with.

And of course there was need for some changes in game:
  • optional compilation mode - so developer could decide if it want support to Occulus Rift or not
  • new way of supporting of devices - oculus is output (we render to it) and input device (input of sensors).
  • there is need to support for head movement because without it something don't feel right
  • implementation of rendering in stereo (half of screen for each eye).

So in the end technology on which work game moved a little bit forward. I know that support to Oculus could be a little better and I have few idea how to do it but right now I returned DevKit and normally work on game checking only from time to time if rendering work correctly. Probably on some point I will decide to buy my own DevKit but right now I still have a lot of work with more important things.

Had a lot to catch-up in your blog from the previous months. A lot has happen in my professional carrier that I completely stop following you.

As always I'm completely blown away with this project. With the amount of effort and high standards you've put on it. It's a dream personal project

Kroll I know that weather effects, rain, butterflies and sunbeams are nice but without them you can still play in the game and have fun from it. So for some time you will need to live without them :]

Right now I preparing game and engine for nearest milestone and all my effort are put there. It wasn't easy decision to tell "I will release something that you will not only be able see but also play in it." it needed sacrifices :] I needed to temporally cut time that I spend on graphics development. Such a life you cannot have everything.

TommyGun this is still work in progress version there are some unfinished models and also I have few plans for technology to make this location nicer So as you see there is long road before this location but I want to believe that final effect will be worth of all this efforts.

Also I noticed right now that is already more than 3 years from my first post in this thread (2010-12-08). It's funny to see how this project start, what I shown then and how it was changing with time I wondering how many people then thought that this thread will be closed really quickly and project will disappear even quicker.

As usual, I know how much work there is and how much time you have to put in this project. I just say that there is a few things to put in your to-do list in case you did not ever think about, let say, about butterflies. Cuz they are cute, you know? I love butterflies.
By the way, I tried to get new updates from svn, but looks like it is down for a long time.

Happy birthday, Angelus's project, i suppose. Better late than never!
