Realist Twinsen ??

Humz maybe it's because of Bus' temple's crash, but it seems that lately the RMP production hasnt been that awesome, apart from a wip Zoe... The show must go on anyhow.

I've never had so little time of my life (about 16 hours of work per day, WE included) but anyhow I wanted to succeed in a last challenge - making my own 3D head model.
Here is the alpha version of a guy with a psy-helmet, I dunno if it can fit in the RMP movie (Twinsen's lost grandpa ? An alien lost on Twinsun ?) but it's always handy to have a home-made human head under the hand

Pretty nice, obviously textures and bump would improve it a bit, but very nice already

Why dont you start a renderosity account and put it there?

Even if its not used in the movie, you should have it on public display

Thanks, well actually there are still lots of things to improve (the eyes are too the mouth too sharp, the cheeks are too flat...) but it's more a question of artistic feeling than of technic. I dont think it's worth putting it in my renderosity acccount since it's still an alpha version, and most 3D modelers can make far more beautiful things with textures and bump and stuff, but when it'll be more improvved it'll put it in my renderosity account.

Well human heads arent necessary for the RMP, but it's one type of model that is always needed in various situations, so it's still good too have an original one in the cupboard
For my FFR project I'll ask Tetsuya Nomura and other genious people for the character design of course, but for the moment such heads are widely enough for some video clips and stuffs.
BTW - I dont remember, had I showed people the little clip I made some months ago, when I was still free ?

Maybe the quetches should be more human-like (so that the face has more human characteristics, but is the shape of a quetch's head),so that the audience associates with the protaganist more...

People cry because they feel sorry for Bambi (and his mother), not because they associate with him. Twinsen's eyes aren't quite so big and blue, and we need to give him as much support as we can (he starts killing people very early on; how can we get people on his side?), though I see your point; making him very human-like might not increase sympathy.

I also think that the quetches' face may look more human, not as round and basic as in the videos. More human-like face elements wouldnt make them unlbaish, as long as you keep the special hair and a rather youngish head there would be no problems.

Well, sorry to annoy you people, but it's still LBA, so typical human-look would be very much out of place.
You can however try to humanise the face as in making it more... "realistic" (starting with the neck)
The problem is when you start to humanise it, what are you going to do with the nose?

no human look!
There are enough emotions which can be expressed with the sipler face and if the movie is made well, people will be on his side regardless of the bonestructure of his head.

Actually, I believe that Twinsen's ingame model in fact had a nose. I wouldn't go with the CGI cutscenes on this. I think that Adeline team wanted Twinsen to look that way because they didn't want the trouble of making a proper nose. His CGI model sucks, really. I'm not saying make the face human. But don't make it completely like the way it was done in LBA1/2 cut scenes. Too cartoonish.

Just 'ic' rather than 'ical' would be simpler.
I do think that, as has been suggested, the face should be more detailled. Simply having an egg with a ponytail isn't going to show off the talents of the modellers.

Well, im want to be realistic.

BUT by realistic i mean *detail*,a creature possible of existing in its world.

Realistic =! Humanish,

That said, the main different I have all ready decided is the eyes.
Im going for more or less human eye sockets, just smoother.
LBA eyes i dont think will work when you need close ups or facial expressions...their just too weird.

The features that im 100% keeping are the pony-tail, the elongated head, the simplistic ears.

Everything else is still undecided

If simplistic doesnt mean low-details, for the ears, then it's about what I imagined I thought for the look of the face. But i dunno how the nose should look actually...

Well, im keeping the half-donut look of the ears, with a funel hole.
I'll add as much detail as there needs to be.

Human ears are very distinctive, and rather freaky, I dont think they would evolve twice
