Well, I've played the game for a couple of hours today and reached proxima island. I did find some trouble in the Temple of Bu (that final part, where you have to activate the switches and then jump on some moving plataforms), but it still wasn't That dificult when I zoomed to the max (it got pretty close to twinsen). I do think, however, that my experience would be much better if they managed to improve the movement system...

Getting twinsen to land exactly on the line that separates the first two tiles is easy. Now imagine getting him to do that with the line between the 6th and 7th one. It's pretty much impossible.
I think youd just have twinsen move at a speed preportional to the distance your figure is away from him. So its not "tap to move to" but more direct "hold to move towards"

You'd still need the camera somewhat higher though for comfortable moving, mind.

Not sure if you've already mentioned that, but what device do you use?
I wonder if the issues are mainly caused by the screen's size...

I've already finished the game, and had exactly the same problems as Blafards61.

I play the game using my Xperia L cellphone, which has a 4.3'' screen. I will try and record the game (or at least take a screenshot) tomorrow and I will post in here so you guys can see how it is to me.

I finished it.

Played it on a phablet (google it if you don't know what that is). Having a 5in screen really helps (more so with an additional pen accessory).

Temple of bu wasn't too bad for me. I was, as above notes, frustrated with the second room and the log. I redid that like 10 times.

As a tip, in the third room you don't need to jump on the platform (top of the screen). You can just jump to the platform on the right if you angle yourself correctly and creep to the edge. Saved me some time, should get a pic up to explain what I mean.

Still quite pleased to have gotten the chance to play this again after so many years. I also played LBA2 after it for the first time in a decade. My memory of them both was quite messed, LBA2 is surprisingly far more expansive in every way.

Mine is 4.0''.
And I can't use a pen, as Axx did.

And I think it took me about 20-25 tries to pass the second room of the Temple of Bu.

Also found the log section of the Temple of Bu tricky but through it now.

Just to put this in perspective my girlfriend, who hasn't really expressed too much of an interest in LBA for over a decade, was really enjoying the game on tablet up until room 2 of ToB. I think she's finally given up after multiple attempts due to screen scrolling as you're trying to get in position for jump - perhaps I'll help her out if she lets me

BTW - is it an open secret that you can use a Meca-Penguin to activate the pressure switch in the first room rather than dragging the statue around?

It is

But the first room is easier imo, killing the skeletons in one hit and being able to take hits and keep running takes away the challenge.

When I "finished" the game again recently, I had the feeling it was pretty short. But it's because I knew exactly where to go. LBA 2 is far bigger in every way, what a masterpiece of a game/ sequel!

It took me 4 tries to pass the 2nd room, lol (The whole temple didn't take longer then 30 mins)
The trick with the log is that you have to spam-click forward as soon as you enter the area where the log spawns, and then move close to one of the sides. When you reach the area where you have to jump, quickly move to the middle of the room and jump over the single empty space, and continue to tap forward; then move close to the switch, activate it and be happy

LBA2 is, in my opinion, much better then lba1. The game feels more solid, things are much more straightforward (you kinda know where you have to go, where in LBA1 I got lost many times) and the soundtrack is amazing

Well I haven't had this much trouble. I've done the temple of Bù in one shot. I don't say this to brag about my touch skills () but rather to point out that it may be a lot easier on a relatively large screen (i did this on a ipad mini, which is still way larger than a smartphone).

It seems that only people playing on smartphones have significant trouble with the game.

Indeed. The main problem seem to be that people can't see the place where Twinsen will land after a jump because their fingers are in the way and, therefore, it becomes much harder to complete the ToB. If they get a pen, or a large screen, it becomes much easier.

As a pen, you just have to get a toothpick and press the end of it on a table, until it becomes flat, then you can use it on your cellphone without ruining the glass.

Man... The things you mentioned are obvious. After all, we all (I guess) have played the PC version of the game, and we know how to deal with the log. But it's hardly possible to do all that stuff correctly, when the accuracy of your movement is low. And that's the case when you've got a small screen.

I have a capacitive touchscreen, wouldn't work for me.

It would be awesome if they could take the same HUD and widescreen improvements and implement them into a new PC release on Steam or something.

Whats the point? It's already out on GOG. Putting it on steam might give it a little bit of extra publicity, but enough to make it financially viable? I don't think so.

Is the GOG version the same as the mobile one with the changes? I don't particularly mind where it's released, I say Steam because that would be preferable for me.

No. Its the same as the original. And the mobile version has no changes other than the interface being adjusted to mobile devices.

And achievements, zoomable maps and simplified states/commands and mouse/touchscreen control, if the review is anything to go by. I would think these would translate well to PC.
