I tried that when I tried to modify LBA 2 to work with higher resolutions, neither worked. It wasn't hard to make Prequengine do widescreen though.

Edit: I mean native rendering to widescreen, not stretching.

I've faced this issue before and have a solution, but in my opinion running a 4:3 game in 4:3 is much better than stretching and distorting the image... oh well, if you really want to stretch it all the way, try looking at your graphics card control panel, where you should find options like these:



Unfortunately it never saves the settings, so it resets every time I reboot. Odd.

Not a big issue, my display have the option to both 16:9 and 4:3 (letterbox)...
