Unhappy No sound in LBA2 Movies

Like many when I tried to play LBA2 for the first time on my XP laptop I got the garbled version. I installed FunnyFrog's Patch and everything worked perfectly.

However, after not playing the game for several months I came back to it to find that not only did the sound play incredibly loud in places (which I've hopefully now fixed with t'other patch on this forum) but there is no sound at all when the movies are playing. When I first played the game after installing the original patch there was sound in the movies so I don't understand what's changed.

Any advice with regards to getting it back would be most appreciated.

Sound in movies? There's hardly none... Except for a few effects here and there, and a background music sometimes.

My first thought it has to do with certain codecs you've got installed in Windows, as sometimes games for example use the currently installed MP3 decoder for some sound/music. However I don't think LBA2 uses any of that, so I don't know what the problem is.

The other hint, that some sounds are louder than other, indicates it could be a problem with a 3D sound setting of some sort, and that it would poorly emulate 3D sound from a stereo-enabled game like LBA2. Perhaps even on a stereo speaker set.

You could go here: Control Panel (classic mode) > Sounds and Audio Sevices, click Advanced... in the Speaker Volume part, and make sure it's set to Desktop stereo speakers.

Your sound card may have a fancy alternative control panel as well, go there and check if there are no 3D sound (5.1/7.1) settings enabled.

I have no clue if your problem is related to this, but you could try.
