There is about 1min timeout server side in case of crash before you can reconnect to the game so this is normal.
You just need to wait for a bit and then you should be able to log again like you did.

If you check the forum, you will see that I posted a new release yesterday evening.
So just patch your game again and it will work.

It seems that if there is no activity on the server for a while the database gets disconnected.
A simple server restart solves the matter for now. But I am still investigating the issue.

I am getting a crash before I get into the game. I tried everything on the trouble shooting and nothing seems to work. I am currently running a Windows Vista Laptop.

Is there anything that I can try that's not on the list?

I'm afraid to say that I've been having the same problem as Imogen here - I download it, install it (as specified), run it... and it crashes. It tells me that there has been a "Data Execution Prevention" problem and that it had to close.

I've tried to run the .NET framework download from Microsoft (I'm 99% sure I already have it, but I thought I'd run it just to make sure) and it fails to install (presumably because I already have it?).

Another problem I have is that on your site (The lbanet.net site) I've registered an account but cannot log into it. The text box where I should be able to log in does not seem selectable to me.

If there's anything I can do to be of help, please feel free to ask. I played LBA with my mother when I was (quite) young - having seen it selling cheaply in a magazine in 1996 (or so). Between the two of us (we took turns over the course of about a year) we managed to complete it (having found, and somehow bypassed the red card bug, I think. I can't remember how we did it - it might've been going back to a save before it happened and doing a whole section of the game again. I just remember it bugged out majorly for us).
I played the game again for myself in about 2002 (with much fiddling. Playing on Windows was awkward) and then managed to borrow a friend's game of LBA2 (unable to find myself one from a retailer that I trusted) in about 2003.

As such, I feel more than obliged to do anything possible to help - if there is anything possible for me to do.

Imogen & Korlus:
So i guess you already tried to install the .NET framework http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
but also the visual C++ redistribuable http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Now did you try to install it manually without using the installer but with the package? I know that the installer was not working on windows 7, it might be the same issue on Vista.

here is how to install manually:
  1. Download and unpack the main game files: http://lbanet.googlecode.com/files/LBANet_v0.5.rar
  2. Download and unpack the v0.52 patch in the same directory you installed the game: http://lbanet.googlecode.com/files/l...0.52_patch.rar
  3. Download and unpack the images files in the same directory you installed the game: http://lbanet.googlecode.com/files/Image_v0.4.rar
  4. Patch your game to the lattest version using "Patch.bat" program in the game directory
  5. run the game
Let me know if this manual way works for you or not.

Korlus: the website is still under construction so i the login panel is not functionnal yet.

It worked, although having looked at everything, it was most likely because I finally got the patcher to work (although I did both re-install the C++ re-distributable, and manually install the game itself. To explain why I hadn't patched it before... Well....

On my first try, I couldn't get the patcher to work. The reason why was because when it said "yes/no", I put in "y". When "y" didn't work, I tried "n". It's been such a long time since I've had to actually type the whole thing in, it didn't occur to me to do it until today.

If I may suggest, the next update you release should probably alter that (and perhaps the website version should ship with the altered patcher?) to make things easier for people?

I know it sounds silly, but things like that really can confuse people. I'm in a library right now, so I won't be trying the game out beyond the login screen until later today, but it does look promising.

Sorry for being so silly.

Yes the current installation is indeed a bit confusing.
I am planning to release a new installer this weekend which should ease the process for newcomers.

Could you also release a new package ? The installers don't work for everyone (including me).

Hi

I try to install the game on my computer. All is right, the game is well installed but when i run the game i receive an error message :/

I have vista 64 bit, maybe it's the source of the problem ? (with this vista i can't play LBA 2 and LBA 1)

I think it should run on vista 64, however you shouldn't install the game using the game installer for vista. Try to install it with the archives.

Polaris :

The error message when i try to run : (in a small window)

"LBANet.exe a cessé de fonctionner

Un problème a fait que le programme a cessé de fonctionner correctement. Windows va fermer ce programme et vous indiquer si une solution est disponible"

Euh, if i'm not wrong, you are French so i don't have to translate this ?

Rincevent :
I used the game installer. I'm going to try with the archives and see the results.

It's only the standart error message tha vista gives you when something freezes. In the older operating system, it wouldn't have given any error messages. Did you try to change the compatibility ?

(you're not wrong ^^)

I installed the game with the new archive and it works perfectly It's really better than the last time I've played (on the version 0.51)

Since the new release I can't connect me to the game. He says that my password (or my username, or the two) is wrong :s

the login is now case-sensitive, you need to make sure that your username is fanlba all lower case

I can't move at all when I play in the LBA world, this since the 0.7 update. Then the game crashed, and now I can't login because for the game I'm already logged

You have to wait 10 seconds until your account logs out automatically.

Actually you have to wait more like 1 or 2 minutes in case of crash before you can reconnect again. Also for the problem where you can not move this seems rather strange. Which operating system do you use. Also what keyboard do you use? You hsould be able to move using the arrow key.
