Cool upcoming Adventure Games

Okay, here's the deal. You're all crazy-adventure game lovers, so be on the look out for the following:

Comming out in September/October, we've got Dreamfall (sequal to TLJ). For all the TLJ fans out there, The Divide has posted a pretty long interview that they had with Ragnar Tornquist. There's some pretty *new* interesting stuff reguarding the game. Check it out.

Then, comming out also in September is Indigo Prophecy, teh awsome game made by Quantic Dream (the same french dudes that made Omikron: the Nomad Soul). What's really awsome about this game, is that there's a bunch of split screen sequences, where you get to see what's happening around your character and in other places at the same time. Looks suspenceful in some scenes. One in particular, where the player has to clean up a bloody scene in the bathroom before a cop in the split screen enters. Looks really sweet.Check it out, too.

Finaly, it's also been announced that QuanticDream will be developing Omikron 2 (SWEET) on the next-generation consoles (duh) and so that's awsome, because anybody who's played Nomad Soul knows how badass of a game it is.

That's about all the exciting adventure game news I have for now.

If anyone else's got awsome stuff to say about this, post an update, why donchu.

Downloading!

I hope I'll allow myself to get my hands off 'Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines' for long enough to install that demo
Dude, I'm really addicted to this Vampire game. And that's after a few years of playing no games at all. I love it.

Anyway on topic, I'll let you know what I think of this demo

Can someone please tell me how to control this thing?
I see action icons on the top of the screen, but I don't know how to use them...

The controls are the things that really upset me at first.

Here's a few pointers:

When you see icons at the top of the screen, hold your RIGHT mouse button (or is it LEFT?) and drag the mouse either up/down/left/right, depending on what the icon is showing.

With the blue bar, you have to press left, right, left, right to execute the action.

Ok everyone, like, DOWLOAD THE DEMO. This is frigging amazing!

Lightwing: when you first said this was split screen and all, I thought this is going to be a too massive game, but it's just cool! And once I got how to control the actions, it feels like totally natural.
Aw man, this is so amazing. I'm about to have the 3 most difficult weeks in my life (the 3 weeks of waiting to the game in case you didn't get it )

Surprisingly enough, althought I *like* the demo, I don't seem to be nearly as amazed by it as everyone else.

There are certain things that just bothered me, such as the introduction by the director (which I felt ruined the suspence). And the introduction by Luke was a bit awkward ("I too, like you, once believed in soap commercials" -- HUH???).

There are many tiny ways of playing out the story, but since we really don't know what happens next, it's hard to tell how much you can affect. So like, if I leave the cafe will the homeless guy testify seeing me, or if I go through the main entrance then will the waitress notice me leave?

I liked the introduction by the director, it was really cool in my opinion. And I don't care about how philosophical Lukas sounds, it's not the important thing.

Heh, they said that if you get his Depression state low enough, he'll committ suicide. I couldn't do it...the lowest you can go in that demo is 5%.

So close, and yet so far.

Strange....Indigo Prophecy has been completed some years ago. Why would they delay it again?

Dreamfall is still in development though, and I always imagined that 2005 release was a bit early considering they're still working on the game's level designs and voice-acting.

I don't know if my source is trustworthy though, it's just that some days ago it said on Gamespot that Fahrenheit will be released on 9/september. Now it says, along with any other site on the internet, 20/september.

Ok, so not complete 2 weeks
But it WILL feel like forever

Indigo Prophecy goes gold!
Quote:
Apart from the titles, there are a couple of minor details separating Indigo Prophecy from the European Fahrenheit, as several of the game's 'adult' scenes have been removed from the American version.
Which means naturally, the european version, Fahrenheit, is the only decent version you shall get. Don't get the "Indigo Prophecy" title!

What's more, the European version is realesed in 16th to this month, while the American version will get released 4 days later.

It's interesting you say that, Chaosfish.

I was going to post a similar topic, but decided against it because I didn't think people would be interested. But since you mention it....

Quantic Dream - David Cage and Guillaume de Fondaumiere interview
by Laura MacDonald - posted on August 3, 2005

EM: The U.S. version is going to be different than the European ones?

DC: A little bit, yeah, because of the sex scenes. The European versions are exactly as we wanted, but we had to change some things for the U.S. market.

EM: Was that so you could get a certain rating?

DC: Yes, 16+ was the rating we wanted. Otherwise it would be 18+ and people just told us our game would only be available in sex shops with that rating. There is nothing sexual in it that you wouldn’t see in a regular movie. But that is what we were told.

Lightwing, I'm way ahead of you
Look at my previous post here.

edit: btw, "goes gold" doesn't mean that you can already go get it, it's not released yet is it?

I'M IN HEAVEN!!!
I spent most of my last 12 hours playing Fahrenheit.
This is simply the best game I have ever played. (no offence, Twinsen)
The way it all looks so real, and it FEELS so real, the interface is built in such way you actually feel like you're the character. When your character is suffering (like claustrophobic fear for example) you suffer with him/her. Everything that is difficult for the character is also difficult for you. And did I mention it looks real? The animation in the game is not done by animators, it is done by actors.

Wow. I fear I'll finish it too soon though.

Reading my above post again, I feel like I didn't describe just how good this game is well enough.
So there's the look and the feel, but there's even more... Like, the plot is completely fascinating, and for those of you who liked The Longest Journey - you'll love this one (guaranteed!). The scenes - can't tell much cause SPOILERS ARE BAD FOR YOU, but when Fred invited the name "No Cliche" - he was inspired by Fahrenheit (probably used time commando to do so).
The humor, the voice acting, the stability (I *always* find bugs. Well, didn't find a single one in Fahrenheit.) - it's all just so perfect. It's the perfect game.
What's more, it works on fairly old computers. I've read from some guy running it on a 6 year-old computer.

I've pirated it. But I'm going to buy it asap.

I recently played the demo - yes I was a bit late - and I was also pleasently surprised with the atmosphere and the new control mode. I have a joypad with analog sticks hooked up to my pc, and imitating the 'action movements' with that feels quite intuitive and renewing. It also vibrates at almost any action in the game (a bit too hard, but that's a setting I can adjust in the drivers). I didn't try it with keyboard/mouse, but it seems a joypad is quite comfortable for this game.

I'm looking forward to playing the full game.

It had a bit Max Payne feeling to it - the voice over, the snowy landscape in urban New York, etc.
