Twinsunification of the Interweb! (php coders needed!)

One silly project I've bee working on today is this;

The idea being when finnished that it will parse over a urls contents and add twinsen to any images on it before displaying.
It barely works at the moment, just a few sites.
I'm hoping people with php skills could help me improve/finnish it.

Maybe when its more working we can add a options page, and merely have Twinsen as one of the options.

On both pages I see some HTML code on top.

Thats just debug info (echo statements) easy to turn off, but I'm leaving it till the rest of the code is better.
At the moment it changes the layout of some pages, and stops some images loading. (cant work out why that is).

Basicly at the moment the code should do two things;

a) Turn all relative links on the page to absolute (as the domain is different now).

b) Look at the first image, convert it to a div with the image as the backdrop, and then set twinsens image ontop of it.

a doesnt seem to be working right on many pages, and b often mess's up the layout. Why I'm hoping for help with other coders to calaborate on this, as I think the result will be pretty fun.

I don't understand, what's the point of this? Would every page to be affected have to be access through some kind of proxy?

The point is "fun", wouldnt it be funny to have Twinsen waving at the side of every picture on a website ? :P
It could also be used for premotion purpose's, as we could adjust the code to have a few different image overlays with LBA just being one option - hopefully the site could get online attention and thus become a sort of stealth advert.

And yes, it must go via a proxi page, as those links do. The PHP grabs the url of the page specified, downloads, and tries to add the new images ontop.
If it could be done in javascript it would be less server intensive and faster, but sadly I cant find a good way to do it.

Well, youd have a site that also, say, lets you insert Rick Ashely onto random pages (and replaces some text maybe...).
It could become popular via proxi.

Imagine a dropdown with a set of replacements and Twinsen is one of those options.
(purhapes with a link to Gog also somewhere on the page?)

Its still a half-formed idea, I admit, but if we can get it working I think it could be quite a fun way to share links too.

I improved it a bit, should work with more sites now without corrupting them so much.

Maybe it could use GD library to insert Twinsen to the images instead of turning them to a div.

EDIT: I think I've got another idea. What if the script displayed Twinsen in the corner of every page (like vuvuzela-time.co.uk shows the vuvuzela) instead of the corner of the images?

Corner of pages would be dead-easy by comparison, but not nearly as much fun imho :P

I have no expirence of "GD library" maybe that would be better.
Admitably its tricky to get Div's working universaly. At the moment I cant figure out why some sites (like IMDB) lose all their images
