Story Line idea

I know this is probably chucking it in the deep end but thought it would be a good thing to suggest as it fits so well with the title.

The first impression I got from the title "The Great Rebellion" was the idea of the game being based around the rebels in lba 1.

The storyline would feature the rebels struggling against funfrock and of their various attemps and missions to sabotage his evil empire.

Its basically all the things the rebels tried to accomplish or did accomplish before twinsen came at the end of their final attempts to help them out; they'd be other main characters and heros in the storylines, spys that risked their lives, rebels that die to prevent or delay some of the other plans of Dr Funrock, that without them, twinsen wouldn't have made it thus far and coundn't have saved the world.

Think about it like the rebels existed before twinsen was in put jail or having weird dreams, they'd been screwing up as many of Dr Funfrocks plans as they could, yet even though they were winning battles, they were essentially loosing the war (until twinsen helps), it was a struggle with many soldiers dying in the process, and without them twinsen would have had no chance because Funfrock would have had his grips on everything by then.

Examples of where the rebels would of hit are things like power stations, cloning labs (slow its production or destroyed one in the beta stages), experimentation labs, prisons, keeping safe scientists (so they aren't forced to help Funfrock), stuff like that in general. It was a World War on Twinsun, Twinsen was just the last piece in the puzzle to finish it off.

In the end it will always keep its title "The Great Rebellion".

- Mannesh: I'm sorry, but the current storyline is set after LBA 1, but before LBA 2, so FunFrock is simply not there anymore.
Though I can include parts of your proposed storyline to the current storyline, just changing them to be against Nizeda, instead of against FunFrock.

So you'd play as a rebel, rather than Twinsen?

- Double-J: Nope, Twinsen will definitely stay as the playable character, don't worry.

Great! Mannesh's idea may be cool though, I wonder if some point you could maybe take control of a rebel if Twinsen is imprisoned, and you'd have to free him? May be neat!

- Double-J: Unfortunately, the original LBA 1 engine doesn't allow switching between playable characters, so such an idea won't be possible.

I can think of a way that it does allow that (even though I'm not a technical expert or something), maybe instead of switching the playable character's *actor*, you can switch the playable character's *body*.
For example Twinsen is in his nurse suite until he finds the tunic, then a model change occurs. You can make that the model of Twinsen's "tunic body" will actually be a rabbibunny, or something.
I have no idea if I just made sense

Not exactly because the idea was to have Twinsen in the prison and another actor (controlled by the player) free him. And than, players get the control of Twinsen again. That won't work well with body changes unfortunately.

Stupid question: What happens if you define a scene to have 2 playable characters at once? Will the game crash?

Never try it, but probably the engine put Twinsen with NO_CONTROL!

The other possibility is that you will only control the 'first' playable character in the scene, and at the moment that character gone poof you will gain controll of the second playable character. Yes/no/maybe?

Yes, If I understand well, was what I'm thinking before.

Note, I know the game allow this, or at least have a command for that, but I never try it. Maybe I'll an example some day.

OMG! You learn something new every day.

Heh, this is simply wonderful! Being it possible to switch between playable characters, this makes it possible to put Mannesh's whole idea into the game (of course, by replacing FunFrock with Nizeda)!

Cool, yet my idea was really basing the story on the rebel struggle in lba 1, but no worries, I think it was Double-J that came with the idea to switch characters.

Yeah basically, and you'd have a gun too. Probably a rabbibunny in green camouflage, which he would require to do a lot of running, dodging bullets like you had in lba 1 with twinsen. Also think of it like all these WW2 games, or omaha beach, where the allies have to get closer and closer to heavy guarded facilities, exactly like that but its lba style with rebels getting closer to funfrocks heavy guarded facilities.

If you think about it, there was a lot of conspiracy against funfrocks government in lba 1, it was hard to trust people because they feared the government (like the ferry ticket cashier, pharmacist) and would grass on you, then there were people who were very descrite trying not to bring any attention to themselves while helping the resistence, and then the conspirators who had been caught and punished for it (astronomer, zoe). It was a very dark age of oppression, almost like robin hood (twinsen), who was part of a group (resitence, rebels) that opposed and fought the king's (funfrock) cruel ways and high taxation.

The funny thing is you can edit twinsen's adventure to a 'whodunnit?' game....making a detective I'd love to do that someday, but need to learn to program first
