Welcome yaz0r . Cool project, It seems as if you're using the original isometric view right? Could I ask where you got the original LBA binary from? Anyway, can't wait to see some screenshots.

DF: Exciting, isn't it?

Welcome!

This looks like a really cool project. But what exactly do you want to achieve by reimplenting the LBA engine? Making it 100% all OS compatible?

Wacko:

Making it compatible with all OS is only one side of the project.

I'm aiming at implementing some new features like opengl rendering, antialiasing during zoom, ...

Also, since lba2 engine is quite close to lba, it should be possible to add lba2 support in it after.

err...well, 3D engines might be hard unless you nick one

I think I speak for quite a few people when I say a map-editer would be nice
How about having a smooth scrolling landscape (so you don't have to keep centering it)?
Or would that add too much strain on the CPU?

This would be really neat. Just imagine a complete editor (worlds/characters/story) so you could create your own adventure game using the LBA engine .

Those extra effects would be very cool too!

you know, yaz0r, some people just come on the forum and say 'hello!,' but you've come in and said 'hello! i've been working on the LBA engine for the past few months.' you haven't half made a dramatic entrance.

funnyfrog has a rival.

mais bienvenue. peut-être, tu peux nous expliquer pourquoi, subitement, les français envahissent les forums!

(je suis sûr que quelqu'un va me demander une traduction...)

Kieron:

In fact, I've been working on a reimplementation of the scumm engine (the engine used in old lucas arts games) since last october. But I didn't do the core disassembly by myself. So I was looking for another game that I would disassemble all by myself.
I know LBA since it was released in france a long time ago now. I just loved this game, and I still do. So I decided to rewritte it especialy since it was crashing on my brand new computer.
So I managed to contact Frederic Raynal to ask him if he would mind me for doing such a project. He replied he would love it.

So here I am
