But I find it much more interesting to see a friend posting about something realy cool that he MADE then something realy cool that he Bought. At least he put some effort on it, he spend some time doing something and he wants to show to us. I don't see anything wrong with that.

But why show that you have enough money to buy things? that's just ridiculous.

Ok, this is totally different. A Holiday trip is a much bigger deal compared to having a good meal on a fancy restaurant. Besides lasting longer, you are doing much more than just Eating. Specially if you will be visiting cool places, going to Parks and having a stay on a nice hotel. But of course, this also includes having a great time with your family or COOKING WITH 'EM. I'd say you can, at maximum, post a photo about a food that a family member cooked for you and you realy enjoyed. Because that's like publicly thanking them, which is a realy nice thing to do

I am certainly not claiming its 21st century only! or cellphone only or anything fundamentally new I agree with that.
But it has got a lot worse. Which is kinda obvious really - photos are now basically free to take, no development, almost unlimited storage, instant communication.
All wonderful things really - but the result is even a small number of friends can overwhelm you with pics very quickly on a daily bases!

We just adapt to quickly filter the stuff we like from what we don't.

It still takes a lot of time to filter everything we want to read/see everyday. Before, I would find my friends posted 10 messages / photos at maximum per day. Now, I have to spend several minutes, maybe even hours checkign through what they posted...

I can't see how that is spamming. It's their page, they can post whatever they want. Besides, no one's pointing a gun at your head to force you to watch a video or listen to a something. Personally, I don't have many people in my friend list that actually post stuff they make, but I'm always eager to have a look. Art is meant to be shared.

Just now I saw this, but WUT
A music piece or a review is something that takes much more effort to make than a food... I don't think they are spammy at all, and they should never be considered as such. Unless, of course, someone is Spamming those on your facebook wall or whatever.

Completely wrong. I'd rather see real things that actually took some effort of their own to make (as DF pointed out, if you made the food yourself, then it's a legitime trivia about someones skills), rather than generic things that would add nothing to my life whatsoever and forgotten the very next second.

My approach to this subject is fairly different.

I'm trying to pin-point needs that people have inside them, and were/are only hidden due to technological or other kind of restraints.

In the 90's (or even prior to that), to take a film or Polaroid camera to take a picture of a restaurant dish to show it to your friends later would seem utterly ridiculous and surely grant you a foolish status. Nowadays, it is very much accepted socially and lots of people STILL do it, despite being something everyone complains about like you said.

The food thing is just one example, the first that came to my head.
The point is to identify these needs people have; if we had holographic devices that could transform how you look at the push of a button and you could even download different holograms, probably the next Twilight or Justin Bieber thing like you mentioned would be people walking around the street with a pink unicorn hologram. Dunno.

I just find this very interesting - what is it you'd like to do, that the only reason you don't do is due to a technological restraint? with social networks suddenly there was a boom in getting to know the exact personality traits of different people, just by reading their posts, something that in the past would take long conversations and hanging around with the person.

Smartphones largely take part in this social change.

That's my approach.
really? cause so far all i see is you saying "^ this." a lot.

The advantage of these kind of zombies is that, to kill them, all you have to do is cut their internet access.

That thing is neat. What does the "secret function" do? anyway, if you are looking for a smartphone that's not so smart or powerful, nor expansive try to get a Nokia6120. It's quite little and it's not an iphone, but it can do everything that thing above can do. I even had some apps and games on it back to the old days
