LBA crashing on PS3

Hey y'all, I've not logged in here for yonks, but I was wondering if you could help? I've been playing my PS1 copy of Little Big Adventure on my PS3, and every time I play the flute at the clear water lake, the cutscene plays, then I get the chime and a few seconds later the text comes up, then crashes when I press any button.

Anyone know how I can get around this, or why it's happening?

Cheers x

It's happening because the PS1 emulation of the PS3 doesn't work well. I doubt there is a workaround.

*has had zero problems with PS1 emulation on my PS3*
*realizes this is anecdotal evidence*

I think this falls under the category of "in-theory-it-should-work-but-emulation-is-imperfect." Like Jasiek said, if someone out there has a PS1 save file past that point, you might want to download that. But otherwise, you might be screwed.

I've always wanted to get my hand on a copy of the PS1 version just for shits and giggles, but have yet to find it in any local shops. I don't want it enough to buy it from ebay or something, but enough so that I happen to check the "old" games bins at stores when I'm browsing.

Try downloading a PS1 emulator for PC (I recommend PSX) put your save file there, pass the staten part, save, and then copy it back on the PS3.

DJ : What kind of stores could have a game this old ?

How do I get a file from the PC to the PS3? Sorry, I'm not very tech savvy! I just play the games an' ting.

The first part: great idea. I tried looking for sites with PSX saves for LBA but found nothing.

And you'd be surprised at what used game stores have from time to time. I found some decent oldies in the "bargain bin" at my local Gamestop. But again, I'm not looking for it actively. You just have to wait until someone dumps a game collection or is moving to college and selling stuff, then you start seeing gems come out.

Depending on your model of PS3, you can use a variety of storage media. All of the PS3's accept USB flash drives, however, so if you are unsure, this would be the best method.

You'll want to create the following folders on your flashdrive for the PS3 to be able to read it:

PS3 > SAVEDATA > (your file here)

Oh wow! This happened to me yesterday; unbelievable!

My solution was simply to find my PC copy, download a savegame, and start from there. If you ever get the PS3 save done, could you possibly upload a copy?

Don't remember this bug happening in PSP, so we can probably share save games from PSP to PS3 to solve this issue.

However, PS3 saves for PS1 and PS2 games are in psv format- which is not the format the PS1 used. To transfer it across to a PS3 involves using the gizmo sony released (which only transfers saves from a PS1 or PS2 memory card to the PS3 hard drive and converts it into the right format). This ofcourse requires a PS1 or a PS2 and a PS1 memory card.

Getting the save from a PC to a PS1 or PS2- I don't know how to do that. I think it's possible but it may involve doing freaky things with cheat devices.

Basically unless you're very tech savvy and have the apropriate materials, downloading a save is unliekly to do much good (unless you can find one in PSV AKA virtual memory card format. This involves someone getting past that point on a PS3 though...)

Getting things from PSPs to PS3s is much easier, so thats probably a better route to take.

Why is it that there is always a problem porting LBA to anything..., it's like it wasn't meant to be played

Hello! This is my first post here because I was googling to see if anyone else had this problem that I am experiencing right now!

I actually solved the issue: Before you play the flute at the Clearwater Lake, go to the options and turn off voice and music.

This problem also comes up around the White Leaf Desert later in the game, so stay cautious! Enjoy.
