Wow...the imfamous Little Big Adventure is among the popular Final Fantasy games...

"Philippe Vachey : Both. I generally start starting from a rather brief synopsis, and of some sketches. From this little of elements, I try to imagine the universe for which I will have to create the music (I like enough this moment!). In fact I create my own musical universe, while making in kind of being able to plate it on the universe of the play, and by avoiding the redundancies as much as possible: it is association various elements (image, sounds, musics, voice, actions) which will create a certain state of mind, an emotion in the player. The music must enrich the play to come, but I always think it like an entity being able to exist alone. The few starting elements I have make it possible to determine the couleurs/sonorities of which I will be useful myself, as well as the suitable musical kind. Of course, certain types of plays do not lend themselves at all to this manner of making (I will not have the same approach for a play of adventure as for a set of platforms)!"

This is why Philippe Vachey will be irriplacable...

Irriplacable maybe very true, but I think all good musicians try to use a simerlar technique.

When I create music I just take a few nice samples and start playing. After a while a certain sphere is created, the next sample i put in the song will help create the same sphere I am looking for.

But that's just me

Yes Didier, there appears to be no info on the net about him (only his name mentioned in some old games ) so it would be interesting to find info about him...
