A few problems running LBA1 under Win2K

Hey folks
I have grabbed FunnyFrog's latest LBA1 patch, and set it all up. Sound is fine, but a few problems with graphics and keyboard.

I am using the latest version of VDMSound, and the video is set to VESA compatible, on Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.

The game loads fine, and I can get into the game fine. However, the game seems to crash when displaying the first page of text about TwinSun. SPeech is fine. Sometimes the writing stops mid-screen, and the screen goes garbled.

I can get past into the game, but when I am at the first scene with Twinsen in the cell, the game totally locks up, and keyboard input is only accepted for a few seconds, and then I have to end the task.

Any suggestions as to what I could do to resolve these problems would be much appreciated.

Thanks

TheMuso

Did you try LBAWin?

Sorry, I can't really help you with that. But there are many people here who I believe know how to fix the problem.

This is a fresh install of LBA.

What do you mean by first patch?

Just for reference, Funnyfrog's patch ain't LBAWin, so everyone is clear.

I haven't tried the lbawin project yet. May do so soon, but I meant the lbawin.exe file generated after the patching process.

Try LBAWin, it will most likely solve your problem.

you may be a little uninformed...there are two options for running LBA1 in windows. you can use Funnyfrog's patch, or LBAWin. LBAWin is the project you said you 'haven't tried yet'. that is the one that seems to work the best for everyone. you should get that one, Funnyfrog's patch isn't guaranteed to work as well as LBAWin. good luck though, and welcome to MBN
